Pediatrician Recommendations...

Who are you using, planning to use, and what do you love about them?  Thanks for your recommendations!

    We go to Lansing Pediatrics.  Main doc is Dr Hoop.  I love Dr Hoop, but I have a love hate relationship with Lansing Peds. 

    When I have my main appointments, everything is great! 

    But when DS is sick or I have to call for a simple question, I HATE that they don't have any type of messaging service so you have to wait, on the phone for 30-60 minutes at a time..  I just wish that had sometime of voicemail system or email that you could email your questions to, without waiting an hour to talk to a nurse.

    Lansing Peds!!  Our kids LOVE Dr. Josh.  We also met Hoop in the hospital and he seemed really nice.  We've been to several peds in different states and Lansing Peds is by far the most knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to work with... except like pp mentioned, the long phone waits...

    Thank you all so much...Lansing Peds is actually the only office that has been recommended to me!  Do you get to select a specific Dr. or are new patients just assigned?

    Dr. Josh is the one who saw our 2nd son in the hospital after he was born and we just stuck with him : )  I actually don't remember if we said we wanted to stay with him or if they just assumed we were.  All of the docs there are nice, it's just a matter of different styles.  FYI: there are 2 Drs. Takagishi, Josh and his dad Mark.  We've really liked all the nurse practitioners also.  They have a website with lots of info if you want to check it out:

    you will have to call to ask which docs are accepting new patients. I think when I called almost 2 yrs ago that the only ones were Josh Takagishi & Dr. Hoop, as they are newer and have smaller client lists.

    We see dr. hoop. He is the one that saw DD when she was born. You can pick who you want, as long as they are accepting new patients even if it is someone different than who you saw in the hospital.

    WARNING: If you want to go with Lansing Peds, be SURE to see them in the hospital when the baby is born. Their policy is to only accept new patients from birth since they have so many clients. There are VERY few acceptions to this rule. So, don't decide after the baby has been here for a few months that you want to switch to them, it's virtually impossible.
