I just posted that thing about France and moving there. Not 30 minutes later, my husband calls and asks me to "sit down" ummm, I'm a penguin I'm always sitting, then he breaks it to me. He might be assigned to a 4 YEAR project and we have to move to London in the next 3-6 months if the project is his. Sad This is seriously horrible news. He is trying to get a "special request" due to my fragile state but doesn't know what he can do. I am so sad. This is no time for London-ps-I HATE London. It's drabby, dark, weather sucks, foggy, food sucks-unless you want to eat Indian 24/7 (only food that's good there on a regular basis), our flat would be (FOR REAL) about 800sq feet at best, what about my mother!!!!??? I need her!, my friends, my career?? I'm sad.

What if Colin becomes this weird brit that drinks ale at 3? What if I do that horrible weird Madonna thing where I have (for no reason) a psuedo British accents at 34 years old and my friends hate me?

This sucks. Sorry so long.

Im sorry. We are facing possibly being stationed in Japan for 4 years. I am not overly excited about possibly moving to Japan with a newborn either. It breaks my heart to think of family missing Blake's first year. We were expecting this though, since DH is due for a move.... it sucks that it was out of no where for you.

Well the project is 90% his, it's just a matter of if he can talk them into letting him office out of the US and the rest of the staff be in London. Either way, if they let him do it (hard since he would be the lead boss of people in another continent) he would have to work "european" hours, which is way different than the hours he works now. This all bites so bad.

It's pretty much what he is doing for the next 4 years, he needs to convince them that with the technology we have he can work out of the US just as easy as in London....hope he has good negotiation skills.

I'm sorry that's such difficult news (and such tricky timing!) FWIW. I lived in London (6mos) and Edinburgh (9mos)--it's really not that bad, just need to know where to go. Shopping is certainly plentiful there. And France would be so very close. You're welcome to PM me with questions if you want. And hopefully your DH gets some special consideration to reduce the stress in the meanwhile!

Yikes. I hope he can convince them he can do everything remotely. Though if not, check back with me since I lived there for a year and can point out a ton of positives (though I do not disagree with some of your negatives!). At least "Colin" is a nice British Isles name...

I for one love the idea of living overseas...but then again I can't stand our families and dislike a lot of Americans.

I'm sorry Mrs. I had this same issue when my DH made us move to Brazil for 2 years. I wasn't KU then but I wanted to be- so I had to put it off.

I really hope you don't have to go. That would seriously be inconvenient for having a baby- London is sooo crazy busy and you can't even drive anywhere. The upside is you could stay home with Colin!

I'm really sorry...that totally sucks, and for it all to potentially happen too soon! How would you be able to travel overseas practically on top of your due date? That would scare the sh!t out of me. Hopefully his company will excuse him. Good luck!!!!!!!!!
