My first acupuncture appt tmmrw

Any tips? I'm kind of nervous...

what should i wear? do you undress for the treatments?

and do you tip your acupuncturist? mine is also a massage therapist.... I was just going to ask her what people normally do, but thought I'd get some tips here first.

I'm excited!

  • I don't have any advice because I've never tried it before. But I wanted to wish you good luck! I know a lot ladies swear by it.

  • I've had several acu. appts. Wear comfortable cloths (like yoga) so you can relax. I didn't have to undress, just rolled up pant legs and lifted shirt for bare belly.

I never tipped her! GL to you!

  • No tips.  They are more like a doctor.

You can wear anything.  I always take off my shirt.  I get lots of needles around my feet and ankles so I also wear something with easy ankle access.

I think you're going to love it!!!!!!!!!!  It's so relaxing.  And you really can't feel the needles.  The needle is in a little tube to help them place it.  So you feel that on your skin, that's all.  Imagine one of those little coffee stir straws on your skin, and then if you tapped the top of it.  You feel that straw part but not the needle itself.  You'll love it!!!!!!

You will lay on a massage table.  I always get treatments on my back first, then my front.  The locations are different for everyone.

My only tip is to not worry and pee first!  You're lying there for a while so you don't want to have to tinkle.

    GOOD LUCK!!!!!!  You'll love it!!!!!!!

Thanks Riley! I'm super excited. already made a connection with the lady over the phone, and I'm excited to work with her. I'm not so nervous about the needles.. more nervous she's going to tell me I'm super screwed up for some reason.

  • My acupuncturist is also my massage therapist (and friend, we went to school together). I don't tip her mainly b/c she's my friend and she feels weird even charging me the full amount. I strip down to my undies, and then she just moves the sheet, I also get a massage right after the acupuncture.

  • I have always wanted to try acupuncture but have been way too nervous! It's nice to hear that it's very relaxing. Maybe I will have to look into it not! I hope that you really enjoy it tomorrow! :)
  • Hiya ladipale....looks like we are both trying out acupuncture tomorrow!  I had similar questions.  Good Luck!

My acupuncture appt is at 8-8:30 and my 3rd IUI is set for 9:30...super excited to see how this helps me R-E-L-A-X among other things.
