Where the big gainers at?

I was just looking at the weight post and noticed that NO ONE posted saying they are 40+ weight gainers (I will make myself feel better by not revealing the exact number...). Well, I am! And, I know I am not the only one. I am not proud that I have gained alot but I refuse to believe I am the only one!

ETA: My Dr. is not overly concerned with my weight gain, although she does stress that it will be more difficult to lose this much after LO arrives.

Re: Where the big gainers at?

  • So far, I've gained about 37 lbs but I still have another month to go.

  • I've gained 36 lbs --- I'm currently 38 weeks. I'm trying hard not to go over 40!
  • I gained 65lbs with my DD and I lost it all plus 10lbs by the time she was 10 months old. It took a lot of work but it can be done. I am on track to gain 45 lbs with this pregnancy and I work out 6 days a week and watch what I eat. Some people just gain a lot of weight during pregnancy.
  • I just finished posint my weight on there. I started at 125 and have gained 35 lbs by 35 weeks. I will be up to 40-45 lbs by the end and I grow 7 1/2 lb babies.. This is totally average for me and I lose it all within 2-3 months. I just also asked if there were any concerns over the babies of the smaller gainers because of the "kick" that dr's went on 50 years ago about not "allowing" women to gain and then reversing their thoughts over it. I assume it is because it turned out to be unhealthy for the babies, so it made me wonder...I was just a bit surprised, anyways. Everyone grows babies in their own way.

My Mom gained alot with all 4 of her pregnancies, so I sort of knew to expect it. But, it is good to know there is life after pregnancy weight gain!

  • I'm not sure of my exact weight at this point, but I know it's over 33lbs. I'm probably getting close to 40 or more ... my doc isn't too happy about it, but oh well. I try to be active any time I'm not at work, but with the constant food cravings and exhaustion, it's hard. My mom had the same issues when she was pregnant and so most of the women in my family. I'm not too stressed. It sucks, but I know I'll lose it after LO is born.
  • I've gained nearly 40 pounds and have a few weeks to go. Although it's mainly my fault for not exercising much at all this pregnancy (haven't felt well and have a toddler) and honestly eating whatever I want for the most part. However, I was pretty good my first pregnancy and still gained about 35. I was able to lose it pretty easily, though, since I was really fit going into that one. This one concerns me a bit. I hope I can get back on track!

  • Thankyou for writing this post! ?I was just reading the one from earlier and saw all the 2lbs, 6lbs, 11lbs, etc. There was no way I was going to post my whopping 52 lbs. on that one. Yep that's right, 52 lbs. YUCK! ?I swear 30lbs of it went to my chest alone!

  • Gaining weight isn't necessarily a bad thing.  That's why I hate weight post like that earlier post, because it makes people feel bad or worry about what they're gaining.  Honestly the majority who aren't gaining very much at all, were probably over weight to begin with. I was underweight to start and have gained 25lbs.  I fully expect to pack on more in the next 8 weeks though....not that I want to at all!
  • 38 weeks and up 40 lbs! I have been exercising, but also eating lots of ice cream, so I'm not super surprised... pLus it's all belly, that's where I always gain weight
  • i'm at about 44 pounds now.. and i'm really not that concerned.
  • I was at 40 last week after losing 3lbs from 2 weeks before.  I'm sure I'll have gained them back in fluid retention by my appointment next week!  I was underweight to begin with and had to eat in first tri to keep morning sickness at bay.  My doctor is fine with it and I've just had to accept it as a part of pregnancy.  At least I still have my ankles....for now!

  • 45 pounds! My doc isn't overly concerned about my weight either. LO and I are very healthy and have been the whole pregnancy. No GD or other complications.
  • I am at 60lbs with 2 weeks to go.  I was underweight to begin with and I work out often.  My doctors think my body just needed the weight, they are predicting a 7.5lb baby so I am hoping the rest falls off quickly.

  •    I gained 40 to 50 pound with my first three and this one I have gained about 30 or more.  last time weighed I was at 26 lbs but its been a few weeks I have 7 more weeks to go.
  • If it makes you feel better, I gained over 40 with my first pregnancy and lost it all fairly quickly (within 4 months or so).  This time, I've hit a plateau around 30 pounds.
  • I wasn't underweight to begin with, I was pretty healthy, and I've still gained over 40 pounds.

I did with DS1, too, and like the PP I lost it all and some by the time DS1 was 9 months old. I pretty much knew I'd gain like crazy again this time. My doctor hasn't said anything so I'm not worrying about it.

  • As of yesterday, I was up 41 lbs at my doctor appointment. I've been gaining a lot over the pregnancy and they hadn't said anything up until yesterday. I'm trying to slow it down now so I don't go over 50. It's my own fault for eating so much junk Embarrassed

  • at 36 weeks I am almost 60 lbs heavier than I was prepregnancy.  From 130 to 189.

Midwives think it is great...good breastfeeding stores.....I feel like a whale!

  • I was at a healthy weight before pregnancy and I"ve gained between 60-70 lbs.

My doctors aren't concerned about my weight since I was very underweight shortly before I got pregnant (I went down to 73lbs then stayed in the 90lbs range for months - I'm 5'7")... What does concern them is the edema that's causing most of the weight gain...

I have edema EVERYWHERE. My face isn't too bad, yet, but my limbs are pretty puffy. My legs keep swelling so bad that my toes go numb. Tongue Tied

I also went from barely an A-cup to a DD. That right there is probably a good couple of pounds.

I tend to gain rapidly, and lose rapidly. My wardrobe is literally all size 00/0 (and kids clothes), and a 14-16 but nothing in between. I just rapidly bounce from one extreme to the other.  It drives me crazy.  Sad

  • I've gained around 40 lbs. and I still have around 3 and a half weeks left to go.  I'm not worried and neither is my doctor.  I was underweight to start, and I have been keeping active and exercising all throughout this PG.  My weight gain has tapered off considerably where I'm no longer gaining weight in this last month.  Don't worry, you're not alone and try not to worry about it.  It's for a good cause!

  • I'm up about 50lbs as of last week and still have 2.5 weeks to go.  I gained about 40 when pregnant with DD.

  • I've gained 60lbs. Which is kind of scary but I was at least 15lbs underweight to begin with. First tri I was horribly nauseous and all I could eat was carbs so I gained a lot of weight at first. Now I've kind of leveled out. My bp is normal and my dr isn't concerned. I just never thought I would gain this much, I have a fast metabolism and could always eat whatever I wanted and not gain a pound, so it's alarming to see what the scale says. But I know it's for the baby and I know I can get it all off with some hard work this summer!

  • AMEN FOR THIS POST! haha im 29weeks and up 33lbs. I did get carried away in the begining since I just got off my steroids but now i joined a gym to get some cardio and im proud of my baby weight :D
  • I've gained 40 lbs so far. I am in the minority of 2nd time moms who actually gained more their 2nd pregnancy. I only gained 28 lbs with my DD, but I was also 10 years younger then.

  • I don't know the exact number, but it's somewhere between 35 and 40 lbs at 35 weeks.

  • I gained 40 lbs. and stopped gaining weight at 36 weeks. I was already heavy to begin with but my doctors never seemed to be concerned. There was one week I gained 5 lbs which was alarming, but it never became a trend. Now I am nauseous and hope to lose a few pounds before birth!

  • I'm up to around 38 at 36 weeks and still gaining slowly and steadily (Dr. isn't concerned, as I was a little underweight to start).  I no longer recognize my legs, hahaha...
  • I was up 39 pounds at my last appt 2 weeks ago (30 wks), so I'm sure I'm over 40 by now. We'll see at my ob appt tomorrow. I started at 130, and I'd really like to stay under 50 pounds for the whole pregnancy if at all possible.
