G is getting more and more mobile. ?I can see within the next month or so us needing to babyproof our home. ?I plan on covering the sockets and taking away our coffee table cuz the ends of it are really sharp. ?
I do not see us locking up all of our kitchen cabinets though. ?When I was a nanny the lady I worked for locked EVERYTHING up and as she started unbaby proofing the house the twins went nuts. ?They thought it was all fun and games to pull everything out. ?I am hoping that if G grows up with everything non dangerous being?accessible?that it would not be as interesting. ?
Wishful thinking?
Re: How much did you baby proof your home?
We haven't yet
We plan to do it this weekend. Mr. Man seems like he will be on the move any day now.
I plan on locking all the cabinets except for one. Which will just be the lids to the pots and pans and a couple of the smaller pans, Also the tupperware. So Lexi can go in there and pull them out and play. The others lower ones have all the glass and cleaning supplies so we have to lock those.
We also have to get a new coffee table since ours has baskets in the bottom that I can see being a big mess and sharp corners.
I also have to get a gate for the stairs
I used to keep my niece at my home, so its been baby-proofed for a while.
We moved our coffee table out of the living room (because of the edges and to open up more room to crawl/roll around), we covered all the sockets and cords, put a corner gate up around a shelf we have in the corner of the living room, put door knob covers on the pantry, our master bedroom and guest bathroom doors, put tot locks on the cabinets under the sink and made sure all other cabinets were baby-friendly (we don't mind if she drags out pots and pans and stuff, we just made sure there was nothing dangerous in the open cabinets or locked ones we couldn't baby-proof). We also moved all small magnets on the fridge to the top of the side where babies/toddlers can't reach them and put a lock on the kitchen drawer that has batteries.
I'm trying to think of what else we did - that may be it.
The O'Baby Blog
we have gates at the steps, all outlets are covered, certain cabinets are baby proofed: cleaning products, spices and herbs and glass bakewear.
I try to not have anything hanging that he can pull off and watch what little toys we have on the floor from our daughter.
We're doing it a little at a time. We had the outlets covered already for my niece, and I bought the gate for the stairs (any day now we'll install it). We'll only lock up two kitchen cabinets. But we have a whole lot of breakable decorations that are going into storage. DH's dad had a large Waterford collection that all needs to packaged up until our kids are much older.
