Stay at Home Moms

What time of day do you get ready?

So it's been 2 full weeks since I've been a SAHM and I'm not complaining I love it but I find myself not getting ready until it's almost time to get the kids from school, well unless if I have to ruin errands. The past two days I've been trying to get ready when the kids get ready for school but then I come and start cleaning and feel dirty and want to shower again. Any suggestions? It's hard getting motivated being 26 weeks pregnant I just want to relax when everyone is away.

I'm trying to stay busy, well trying not to get bored. During my alone 6 hours during the day with cleaning, arts and crafts, internet browsing. We have to move next month so I think I'll start cleaning stuff out and maybe getting some stuff together for a yard sale.

Re: What time of day do you get ready?

  • On the days I don't have class (@ 8am) I take showers at night and get dressed when I have to go somewhere. ha ha Or before DH comes home, whichever comes first.

  • It varies for me but typically its mid-morning after breakfast but before we have to run errands (my son watches TV or just hangs out in our bedroom while I shower/get dressed) or I do it during nap time roughly between 1-3.  I don't have it set, it just depends on what I'm doing that day.

  • Usually when DS goes down for his morning nap - Varies but usually around 9:30 or 10a.m.  I'm able to usually get my shower in and half my makeup.  Then I bring him out and put him in his bouncer while I finish my makeup.

DH is home at the moment so I usually have him hold him while I do my hair and get dressed.  If DH weren't here, I guess I would just leave him in his bouncer a bit longer.

  • I shower and get ready for the day before we head out for our first activity.  Most days, that means after I've fed DD breakfast, we've gone on a walk, and we've played a little, I'll stick her in her crib with some toys around 9am, and take a quick 5 minute shower.  Yesterday was especially nice because she slept until 8am(!), so I showered at 7:45 right before she got up.  About once/week we have a morning where we don't have plans to be somewhere, and I'll often wait until mid-afternoon, after I've finished cleaning, etc, to get ready.  But that doesn't happen often.

  • before DH goes to work.....so 6am today
  • On the weekdays I get up at 6:15am and get myself showered and ready.  Then the kids get up at 7am to get ready for school.
  • 3 days a week - 1st thing in the morning (so, I am ready by 8:30 when DS and I are out the door for our first activity). The other 4 days I go to the gym in the morning, so I usually get ready when he is napping.

This exactly. Most days it's mid-morning when both LO's are up. I can take them upstairs and DS runs around our MB while DD sits on the floor and plays with her toys.

  • I shower at night after the kids go to bed and do my hair and makeup when they get up in the morning or right before.
  • If there is potential of leaving the house, I get up between 7 and 7:30 to shower/dry my hair.  The boys get up at 8 usually so this works.  After I give them breakfast, I finish getting ready if we're going somewhere.
  • We have playgroup on Monday mornings, a tumbling class on Friday mornings...and usually one or two other moms group outings in the mornings the remainder of the week.  So, I (obviously) get ready early on those days.  If we have no plans, I'll sometimes stay in my jammies until after Ben goes down for his nap (around 12:45) and then I get dressed.
  • Sunday-Thursday we have things that we do in the morning...so I get around prior to leaving the house (out the door before 9) Friday is our lazy day....I have trouble getting DS motivated to get dressed, its like he finally has time to play with all of his toys and his imagination is exploding...I quit fighting him and just enjoy the moments of watching him play and enjoying another cup of coffee in my pjs on the couch!
