Hi ladies! For anyone who has had an amnio (or a CVS for that matter), I'm wondering about the bed rest. My doctor's office says I have to be on bed rest for 48 hrs afterwards, so basically all day Friday and Saturday. Friday being a work day, I was wondering whether bed rest means I can't do anything or if I should be able to participate in a few conference calls or work on my laptop from bed. (Not that I want to, but it's hard to take a whole day off right now) I was also wondering if bed rest means I really have to stay in bed - can I go lay on the couch? Can I get up to make a sandwich or something?
Any input is appreciated! Thanks!
Re: Bed rest after amnio
You can participate in conf calls and work from your laptop. You can lay on the couch- if you are laying and not sitting. I think making a sandwich will be fine- just can't stand up to make a five course gourmet meal.
Just rest and take it easy.
*Lying.
you aren't a chicken!
Thanks ladies! That helps!
BusyBea - I guess I'll have to figure out whether doing work is going to allow me to actually relax or not. Usually it doesn't work that way :-)
I had one last pregnancy and she just told me to take it easy physically, which I took as no working out or anything strenuous. I took advantage of it though and took the rest of that day off work. I needed the rest of the day recover mentally. I hated the idea that I needed an amnio to begin with.
LOL - oh I hear ya! If I were you, i'd x-nay the laptop! just my 2 cents ...
I actually told my employees they could call me tomorrow only in case of emergency, after 12 noon & only if the building was on fire ... hahaha
48 hours is what the nurse told me when I called for the appointment. I have decided I am going to take full advantage of it. No laptop, no phone calls, nothing, just some good books, maybe a movie, call my mom, whatever. We are having DD stay with my ILs tomorrow night which will be fun for her and them and will help me relax since I won't have to feel terrible refusing to get up and go play with her (she does not grasp the concept of playing calmly and quietly!). My DH will be home with me so he is planning to cater to my every need - LOL! I need a couple days of rest.
