We just got the kidcraft one from Costco, it's wood, and it's fabulous! For whatever reason the photo on Costco.com is much more basic that the actual playhouse so I really recommend calling to see if yours has it in stock to go see. I'd post pics but alas we lost the camera, ohhhh actually I have a video on Youtube if you want to see it, my name is JSUZiggy.
The kids will spend as long as I can stand it outside playing with it and it's been great for both of the ages so I can see it getting a few years of use and being well worth the $300
OMG that video is sooo cute! I love how your son is kicking his feet up in excitement!!
So here's the million dollar question. How long did it take to put together?
It wasn't that bad, says the person who didn't do it, with my back I couldn't help so DH put it together alone over the course of 3 nights after work working an hour or two each night so maybe 2-3 hour total for one person.
Andrew is so in love he still calls it his surprise (they had been at the grandparents and I told him there was a surprise in the backyard for them) They will play for ages just with the water buckets, you could do sand and I guess the point is one of each but I have learned that ends is major mess and water is a huge hit. I honestly was a bit shocked at how much use it gets, I knew they'd love it and all but they never tire of it.
We got ours during a big sale at Babies R Us. Right now it lives in our living room until the weather gets better. They spend hours in there cooking, climbing in and out of windows, playing hide & go seek, etc.
I'm kind of dreading putting it in the yard because of spiders.
Assembly was easy. You'll need a power drill & power screw driver. It was only a few large pieces to put together.
