he'll do anything to not go poop on the potty, he stands there and shakes and squeezes his butt cheeks, or he tries to run off and hide.
i don't know what else to do. he's on miralax to soften his stool. we've also had to use suppositories b/c he's gotten sick (thrown up) from not going. and now of course he's petrified of the suppositories. i don't want to scare him to death of going poopy on the potty.
i've tried bribes w/ all his favorite things. we've tried racing to the bathroom to see who could go first but when he gets there he says he doesn't wantto go poopy. i'm struggling here. i just spent 3& 1/2 hrs running back and forth to the potty w/ him for him to only sit there and not go. i can't keep doing this. ok, officially whining. sorry.
Re: ugh, DS does not want to go poop on the potty!
yeah, ds will not go poopy on the potty either. I have used the HELL out of our carpet steam cleaner. He won't go during the day. I sit him before naps and bedtime. he will go on his bedroom floor. I thought, oh, I'll put a potty in his room. nope. find it on the floor. sometimes with poop in his pants, sometimes his pants are clean. ? I'm not stressing about it. I'll just keep cleaning it up and praying he gets it. we're working on 2 wks of steam cleaning his carpet nearly every day. we're gonna have to replace it when he's trained. ugh. when dd did something similar, (she would go on the floor, but squat), I bought a shorter potty so she could squat down onto it. she needed to be able to do that. she couldn't master going in more of a sitting position. (ds won't use that potty for some reason?) some kids seriously have a fear. a friend's dd did... she got a book... everybody poos. or something like that. she made sure she explained that it is normal...even let her dd in the bathroom when she went and cheered for her own poop. I know.. gross, but we moms will try just about anything, huh? did he suffer a fissure w/ a hard stool? sometimes that will set them off for a bit too.
GL.
that's what i'm afraid is next that he's going to poop in his room during naptime.
( i'm sorry you have to go thru that. ugh.
and just like your DD before we started potty training he'd always get in the squat position for pooping so maybe it's not normal feeling for him to poop on the potty sitting up.
he never goes on the potty chairs, only on the big potty. and i do bring him in the potty w/ me if i have to go # 2 too. i think i'll do anything at this point. it's dreadful to watch him suffer so much and it's soooooo time consuming and stressful for me as well.
no, i dont think he suffered a fissure or anything like that but he's pooh's would get so thick he literally could not push them out, they were huge!!!!
i think what he's afraid of or unsure of is pushing it out on the potty. he had no issues pushing it out into his diaper though. guess it's just different.
oh I understand. ds says the potty is yucky and I go pee pee on the big potty (toilet). At this point I don't think he'll ever poop on the toilet. lol. I did see a taller step stool at a friend's house, I may have to invest in a new one. then I've also hear that putting them rearfacing on the toilet helps???? I having tried it yet... but it's next.
we just have a little step stool that he uses to get up and sit on the potty. and we have a potty seat that goes over top the normal seat.
he's already started this morning holding in his poop and saying he doesn't want to go poop. i just let him be today, i'm hoping if he has to go bad enough he'll make his way to the potty. ugh, i dunno.
