Got maturity and Fert report and Im not very happy!

So they retrieved 13 eggs yesterday which brought my hopes up a bit. They called about an hour ago and out of 13, 5 were mature. WTF! Luckily all 5 fertilized, but Im kind of bummed/pissed/sad that 8 were immature. How the heck did that happen?? Did I not stim enough, is it an egg quality thing. Any advice would be appreciated or similiar stories. Last IVF 7 out of 9 eggs were mature, 6 fertilized and we were only left with two at transfer. I know some poeple would be happy with 5, but with ort past hiustory Im scared there wont be any left at transfer! ugh! Its so hard for me to stay positive. Thanks ladies

Skimmy makes a good point. I don't think you should worry with five. (I know, I know...impossible not to worry.) But do try to stay positive! Last time I got 12 eggs and 6 were mature...5 fertilized normally. They were all looking fine on day 3, and we had 2 to transfer on day 5. Hang in there!!!

I am sorry you didn't get a good report. It is so difficult when things don't go as we expect/hope. 5 embies is still VERY good! Those little embies will keep growing and growing and there will be many to choose from on your transfer day. Anyways, I understand that it is difficult to stay positive, but you do have 5 embies growing and waiting to be transferred.

My IVF cycle w/ DS, I had 9 eggs, 5 mature and 3 embies... Luckily all 3 made it to transfer and the RE transferred 2. One of them became DS. The other embie did not make it to freeze.

I will be thinking about you and crossing my fingers that your embryos keep on growing. Good luck!

This is such a scary process. Your anxiety is completely understandable. The same thing happened to me. Going into ER they thought I has 20+ mature follies. After ER, they only retrieved 12 because it turned out that the rest of the eggs were not mature enough even to retrieve. Then, only 5 out of those 12 were actually mature. My RE said that sometimes the follies can be measuring mature (22-24) but the egg inside is still not mature. She said that is what happened with me. I needed my follies to measuring (24-26) in order the the eggs to be mature.

Be encouraged though. I'm 28 weeks tomorrow. One of those 5 is my lo!

I got 5 eggs, 4 mature, 4 fertilized and 2 made it to 5dt and well, we know how that turned out

Lots of positive vibes to you. It's so hard when things don't go as expected. For what it is worth, my BFP cycle was from only 7 eggs, while my other two cycles I got 12 and 20 eggs and nothing! I still have a lot of hope for you!

Hang in there! I got 22 eggs--all mature and only 7 fertilize. I had half as many eggs and 8 fertilize the first time.

You just need that "golden egg sperm combo" and that is all that matters. I was devasted when my result came in--but so far it is working out!

My own IVFs were terrible but I'm telling you I was never more crushed than when we found out that our donor's 20 eggs retrieved only turned into 6 fertilized embies. I thought I was doomed. Then I felt even worse when we were told that the 4 remaining embies didn't make it to freeze ARGH! But, the 2 we put back turned into a BFP. So never give up hope!
