DH and I aren't Catholic, but my good friend's son is having his First Communion...DH thinks we should give him a toy, or something little boys like...I think we should give him a rosary or a medal or something religious. Then again, he might end up with a hundred rosaries...Any thoughts?

Re: NBR: What to give for a First Communion gift?
You can never go wrong with a cash gift. $25 is sufficient for that. People generally give religious gifts, but the problem is that the child then ends up with 10 bibles and/or crucifix.
Savings bonds, rosary, Cash to put away for college - all are good options.

Money.
Since you're not Catholic, I wouldn't recommend giving a religious gift.
