DH and I are trying to buckle down on our budget. Right now, it is just us two eating groceries at home. I am trying to find a realistic monthly grocery budget for 2 adults.
OMG - we need to do this really badly, we through out food and it makes me sick! I would say depending on the month, we spend about $400/month for the two of us, basically purchasing whatever we want and not paying attention to sales or using coupons. If we watched sales and were more organized about it, I bet we could get it under $300 pretty easily!
Our budget goes between $320-$400 even though sometimes we can spend less than that.. I use coupons.. and in that budget is also include going out to eat once a week..
We have a 2 year old, so this might not help but we spend between $150 and $200 every week. On the weeks where we need less food, we tend to buy more paper goods, toiletries, cleaners, etc. so we always manage to get to that number no matter what.
We use our club card, but probably only 1 or 2 coupons a week. Also, we buy much more organic food that we ever did before kids so that also increases our budget.
Dh and I don't necessarily have a budget but we have actually started making dinner plans for the week and making grocery lists for the things we need. This has cut our grocery spending a lot. Not to mention we waste a lot less food too.
We spend between $300-350 /month for just the 2 of us ... AND, we typically eat out on weekends. I really need to make a better attempt to budget and clip coupons!
we have a list, and we stick to the list for the most part, (sometimes something will be on sale and we didnt need it but will)
we make sure we have 14 meals in the freezer. we only go shopping on hubbys paydays and get the bulk of our grocery's, toiletries anything thats on the list, that way the week we dont get paid its little thinks like Milk, bread, maybe a dessert off the bakers rack....*shifty eyes* i swear its normally my hubbys idea not mine hehehe, we dont really have a set budget,
and sometimes we spend more then other time all depends on how much meat we have to get or what else we need to get.
Take this with a grain of salt..I'm not good at sale shopping, coupon clipping, etc. I plan meals ahead of time. But, we buy organics, lots of produce, expensive meat (wild fish, grass fed beef, organic chicken), etc. I also shop at the co-op or higher end grocery stores...I could probably be closer to $100 if I were more careful.
We spend about $50-$60 a week on food. So around 200-250 a month. My DH is a big guy and eats a large portion. Thats just for dinner and my lunch he spends another 150-200 on lunch each month, he eats out almost every lunch.
We spend about $700 a month for the 3 of us. We buy organic though and live in an expensive area.
Oh my, I am so happy to see your response! One I wrote $150-200 a week and saw how much less everyone was spending I felt crazy! But we live in an expensive area and buy quite a bit organic too so it makes sense.
