My MIL is wonderful! She's sweet as can be and never gets in the way or is pushy with her suggestions. She shares stories about what she did and then says "I don't want to be one of 'those' MILs, because I wouldn't want mine to be that way towards me."
She has offered to take me on a shopping spree after my last shower and buy whatever I need to finish the nursery (this is her first grandchild and she's the only other girl in the family). I'm very thankful for this, but she told DH that she would take me to one specific store because she really likes that place. I've never been there before because it's really expensive, but I looked at it online today. They only sell complete bedding sets. I only need a crib skirt because I made the comforter and I'm going to use a breathable bumper. They also don't sell breathable bumpers. I talked to DH about it and he said he'll talk to her and see if I could just go to target so I could get something that matched, but I feel really bad and don't really want him to say anything to her because she might think I'm being greedy or picky. What should I do?
Re: What do I say to MIL?
You are very lucky to have such a great MIL. I love mine also.
Are those the only 2 things you need? Why don't you go buy the bedskirt and bumper you want at Target before she takes you shopping and not say a word? She can buy all the other fun things you want.
I am very lucky to have her and my FIL. They're not the only things I need. I need the waterproof matress pad (which one at that store is $24 and you can get a 4 pack at Target for $11). I also need a hamper and mobile, but I didn't see any at her store.
This! And how awesome?!!?? Enjoy!
OMG... be so happy your MIL is like this.
This is my MIL first grand child, and she got some playtex bottles and 2 t-shirts. My husband says thats a lot for her. They are well off, and never offered to buy anything extra. I would just go to her store you might find some stuff that you like, or try to go to her store and target.
