3rd Trimester

Nausea/gagging back at 34wks?

I only threw up twice in the first tri but I had excessive nausea and gagging/dry heaving when I smelled my son's BM's.  He was in the "reinforcement" stage of pooping in the potty and needed positive reinforcement and the little potty (which meant my assistance every.single.time) .  He is now using big potty and things have been fine....until this week.  I've been nauseous if I have to wipe him (about 50% of the time.....many times he does it himself).  We were also grocery shopping on Monday and had  two different trips to the bathroom between a few different stores.  In the bathrooms, there were other occupants who had tummy troubles and I dry heaved at the sink while we were washing our hands.

I REALLY hope this doesn't continue for 4 more weeks.  :(  Repeat C-sec is 4 wks from tomorrow.

Re: Nausea/gagging back at 34wks?

  • Well, I'm not 34 weeks but had severe gagging/dry heaving from about 10-15 weeks and then it went away.  Around week 22 it came back and just subsided again about 2 weeks ago.  I'm hoping it doesn't come back one last time.  But, I think its normal for these things to come and go.

  • Oh yah, especially when I brush my teeth!
  • I was nauseous until 6 weeks ago (on Zofran cause I was still throwing up without it) and in the past 2 weeks, I've had to pop the occasional Zofran. I don't feel like I WILL throw up, just nauseous enough to not want to. My husband has been working 12 hour shifts and I make him shower immediately, cause if I smell him, WHOA. It was a nice month of feeling normal...
  • I never had nausea, but definitely did gag a lot.  It just started up again.  Sucks.

  • The past week I've had a return of nausea, and have vomited twice (at 34 weeks).  REALLY annoying since I can't curl up in a ball on the bed like I did in 1st tri to feel better.  I'm stuck in my shower/tub combo on all fours with hot water running on my back to try and feel better.

I was consistently sick for the first 16 weeks (lost 15 lbs. in the first 12 weeks) of my pregnancy, then it gradually tapered off around 20 weeks.  I've had a couple of weeks where m/s will pop up unexpectedly (like randomly vomiting at 26-27 weeks), and then more recently, this week.

I think maybe LO is having a growth spurt or something and causing a spike in my hormones.  Right now I'm just PRAYING that I don't get sick during labor.
