Aside from putting LO down to get things done (laundry, dinner, etc), do you purposely schedule independent play time for your LO? If not, does your LO have a hard time at daycare with not wanting to play independently?
Most of her play is independent play unless we're reading a book or showing her how to play with toys. I mean, we're there on the floor with her most of the time but she digs through toys, pushes things around, etc. by herself. We talk to her while she's doing those things and describe what she's doing.
She doesn't have a problem with independent play at daycare..she actually has the opposite problem. She doesn't want anyone getting near the toys she's playing with and she wants to take everyone else's toys. Ugh, that's another issue though.
I don't plan anything. She for the most part likes to play with her toys by herself, but wants to show us things or ask what things are, so we're close by. She'll also go and 'read' a book by herself too.
