Water Play Tables

Which one do you have?

Costco has one that is half sand/half water.  Is this a recipe for a wet sand disaster?  Is it better to stick with the basics?  I am leaning toward the Costco one because it has an umbrella and I am so nervous about that sand that I might just do double water.

 Thanks!

  • My parents got this one for Natalie. I never would have thought of it, but now that we have it, I think the cover is a must. We have both sand and water in it and the sand does gets wet. I just scoop it out with the shovel that came with the table and replace the sand every once in a while. No big deal.

  • We have the Costco one and we do double water.  DH is convinced the sand will attract fleas and will be used as a litter box by the critters in the neighborhood.

The only issue with double water is that the table has to be dumped instead of drained on that side.

  • i was always told to stay far away from sand. now that tru goes to a school with sand on the playground, i know why. we have one that is just water and it's plenty fun.

i will say, we have a sandbox and we have pea gravel in it. this was an idea i stole from a friend and it's awesome. it doesn't track in the house and cats won't pee in it if we leave the top off but the kids can still dig. you can buy bags of it at home depot. it also doesn't turn to mud when it gets wet!

  • I bought the one from costco. He puts sand in the water all the time!! Honestly I think he only likes the water to splash.  :)
  • Some other play table mediums can be rice, dry pinto beans, or deer corn. Depending on how old your kids are (choking hazzards w/ the beans and corn) mixing it up can be fun.
