? for the mamas

When did you fit back into your regular clothes?

Yesterday, as I dug out the maternity jean skirt, I could only help but wonder when I might fit into my regular stuff again.  Unless they are "stretchy" pants or a knit skirt, I don't fit into ANYTHING except maternity jeans.

((Skinny people who fit into their regular jeans one week after delivery need not respond- J/K- sort of))

Re: ? for the mamas

  • Comfortably? At about 6 weeks. Now all my pre-preg stuff is too big, I'm not complaining, but I worry about buying too much new smaller stuff in case I gain weight when I am done BFing.

With all the pros of quitting, this is definitely one of the cons!  I used to be able to consume all the calories I wanted and you would never know! Those days are gone!  The number on the scale keeps going up!

    Ugh, I figured it would!

  • I think a couple weeks? Then I stopped BFing and now I'm fatter than ever! Ugh, it sucks. Must get to gym.

HaHa!  I also weigh more now than I did post-pregnancy.

  • Everyone is different- I know it's NOT what you want to hear but you can't gauge your body on another persons.

With all three of my pregnancies I did NOT drop the last 10 to 15 lbs until I finished bf'ing. Yup, you read that right!  Despite eating clean and doing moderate exercise I could not budge the last of the weight.

The good news is? I already (finally) busted through the plateau I'd hit for the last two months in a few days post bf'ing!

  • My answer will be different than most peoples I expect.  I was a size 0 and weighted 100 pounds when I got pregnant with Rowen.  I never have fit back into my pre-pregnancy jeans.  I lost pretty much all the weight at one point but my body never went back exactly the way it was before and I don't ever expect it to.

  • The day I left the hospital I could wear all my old jeans.  My entire body went back to normal immediately after birth except for my boobs.  They stayed huge.  I was never small chested to begin with (34E), but now I am permanetely 34G when I am not BFing and 34H or 34I when I am BFing.  I don't expect my boobs to go back down no matter how much I work out or eat clean.  I know it is genetic that they are super large (all the women in my family had reductions after kids).
  • I went back pretty quick but it's the bulge of my belly I can't get rid off.
  • I guess I am a freak of nature, 4 months later I feel like I have gained weight despite bfing ever 2 hours. My ass will not go away.
  • About 3 weeks or so.

I feel the same way.  BF'ing didn't make me drop weight like I hoped it would.  After I stopped, I dropped a few pounds, but I really need to do something to get rid of these last 10 pounds.  I need to exercise!

  • I think it was about a month or two...although I JUST stopped wearing my work maternity pants.  lol - i guess i can't give my mom a hard time anymore for her elastic waisted pants....they are comfortable!  ha!
  • This post just made me feel so much better!!! I can't get into any of my pre-preg jeans and have been so upset about it because I thought I should be able to by now.  I have been so embarrassed that I still have to wear maternity clothes, but I guess I shouldn't be!

I still have 20 lbs to drop to get to my pre-preg weight and I feel like nothing's coming off no matter how much friggin lettuce and grapes I eat! Sad

All I keep thinking is Greece/beach/balooga whale.

This makes sense because doesn't the body hang on to 5 pounds of fat for breastfeeding purposes?

  • I was back into my pre-pregger clothes 2 weeks PP!  I still have 4 pounds to lose to get to my pregger weight but it is all in my boobs because my pants are much looser than they used to be.

Hope you're eating more than just lettuce and grapes girlie!! Gotta keep that milk production up with some calories!

I'm sure the pounds will start coming off soon!

  • I think it was 5 weeks when things fit again. Now I'm actually a size smaller than I was pre-preg which is nice...adn I didn't even breast feed. I may be skinnier but I think flabbier! haha
