My RE usually has people come in at 7 wks, but my nurse said I could come early if I wanted to b/c I've had a prior ectopic. I decided to go ahead and schedule it but then I found out DH can't come. He can make the one at 7 wks. Should I just go alone at 6 wks or wait until 7?
Re: Should I cancel my 6 wk u/s?
I take every u/s I can get. Seeing the heartbeat a week early is SO worth it IMO.
You don't really know what you will see at 6 weeks so if you are at all nervous, I would just do the 7 week one. By then you should see everything. Fetal pole, sacks, heartbeats. I did not want to do one at 6 and 'hope' to see it and then have to worry about it for another week and come back and 'hope' it was all there. I'd just wait and do the first one when all that stuff should be visible.
And with my history, there was no way I was going to that first u/s without my husband. I've had two prior ectopics and what turned out to be a chemical so u/s had never gone very well for me.
After that.. sure.. then I'd take what they'll give but I am a firm believer in not doing the first one till 7 weeks.
Are you serious?!
You've been talking about "possibly having twins" all week long! At your 6 weeks U/S you will definitely know if there are one or two (or three) embryos! Go to the 6 week and 7 week U/S! I am sure insurance will cover both.
DK in NY,
It's not that I don't think Ins will cover. I'm sure they will, b/c I had an u/s at 4.5 wks, 5, 6, and 7 wks with DS. I'm afraid of going by myself and getting bad news when DH isn't there. : (
And, if you are in the 0.05% to 2% cases of ecotopic migration post IVF, then perhaps it would be better to discover that at 6 weeks vs 7 weeks?
Good Luck! We all wish you a positive ultrasound appt with proper embryo placement!
if you can do both 6 and 7- i'd do both.. but if you can only do one- i'd wait for 7.
we had a weekly US from 5-9w... i loved it!
good luck!
