have an epi? come on in!

So I can't remember what exactly they told me...but I remember them saying something about like 30% of women have back pain that get an epi. Now is that backpain post-epi? Like permanent back pain? Sometimes my spine feels bruised around the area I got the epi. It's not awful, I just notice it when DH rubs my back. I do also have lower back pain, but it's hard to tell if that's from the epi or just pain from being a mom(carrying, picking up,etc.) Anyone remember?

  • Same for me.. and I can feel the "sharp pain" when I sneeze or cough...

  • FWIW - my pain is only where the epi went in.. if that makes a difference for you!!!!

  • I have sensitivity in my lower back. I had a massage the other day and had her avoid that area entirely, it just feels really weird. They also had to jab me about 4 times, b/c they couldn't find the right spot.

  • I have noticed that too...it is especially sore in the area where the epi was...I thought the lower back pain may be from me sitting wrong when I am BFing
  • My back is sore from that spot down. I only feel it, however, when I bend over and stretch my back...

  • I haven't experienced any back pain but did notice a numbing sensation on right thigh and hip area.

    Exactly this!!

  • I don't have any pain, but I do have a hard bump under the skin at the injection site.
  • No pain at all.  I had some itching for a few days pp from the tape they use but no pain at all.  I LOVED my epi!

  • I had no pain at the site after my epi, even when they first took it out, so I was lucky in that regard.  I also have lower back pain, but it's muscle pain, I assume from carrying a baby around a lot and falling asleep in awkward positions.

I was, however, not lucky in that the epi began to fail after a few hours and I went through transition with just part of my left side numbed.   Obviously it was not working during the actual pushing, either, but transition was much worse than pushing.  Next time I'm not even going to bother with an epi.
