Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Would anyone else be annoyed - DC situation

To make a long story short this will be our 2nd babysitter since I went back to work full time.  1st sitter would write down bottles/ozs feed, diapers, and nap times for me.  I liked it so that I would know what happened during the day and what I have to deal with when I get home.  2nd sitter has done the same thing for me EXCEPT there are two of them and when the Mom (actual sitter) isnt there MIL takes care of LO's (super nice lady) but all I can get out of her is when his last feeding time was and that he was great all day, napped etc but I dont have details.  I'm thinking about having DH say something to the mom to see if I can make sure I get a written report each day - is that asking too much???

Forgot to mention today was a little off for the sitters because the mom had to take her own daughter to the hospital for a high temp so I'm sure if she would have been there I would have gotten the report. Am I being to harsh or critical??

  • That was a little confusing but I think I get the point. I like when my sitter writes stuff down for me too. The one I pay does it but my Mom doesn't and I don't say anything to my Mom.  I'd say something to a sitter.

I guess I just want to know if it's asking to much to make sure I get a written report everyday no matter who ends up watching him (MIL sitter or Mom sitter ..not my mom or MIL....super confusing - I know!)  I know the MIL was super busy by herself today but I just feel like I picked him up and had no idea what went on minus he just ate at 430pm which puts his night time feeding back farther than I like.

  • I would say today let it go but if it happens again say something.
  • meh. i mean, if the baby is in one piece when you get home, i'd say to ease up a bit. they're busy watching your child. if they think to write some stuff down, that's great, but it's not the most important thing IMO.
  • Maybe you could make up a sheet like the ones they have at day cares and make copies of it and give it to whomever is watching LO when you drop them off every morning, so that way they have something to fill out and get the hint and you get all the information you need.

I would want to know some of the details of LO's day, not for like a night sitter but for regular days I would.

  • I use the input/out sheet that The Bump has in their Tools section. I take it to daycare and they are more than happy to fill it out. DS is with different people all day (Morning me, then he stays with my mom for a few hours, and THEN goes to day care) its just easier to have everyone write down what he has been up too. Its a great little tool that you should definitely get everyone to use.

Sitter was filling one out...it's when the main sitter had to leave for a family emergency that it didnt get filled out.  I'm going to have DH say something on Thursday when he drops him off.
