GC- The Immaculate Conception refers to the dogma that Mary was preserved, from the moment of her conception, from the stain of Original Sin. Her conception still happened in the, uh, conventional manner. Mary's perpetual virginity (that Jesus was conceived and birthed with Mary's virginity remaining intact) is a different theological precept.
Us Lutherans must be too drunk all the time to care about the details. I knew I should have picked a church where the pastor doesn't walk around church functions with a beer in his hand. Darn German heritage.

Well.....
LMAO
Don't you love being Catholic (which I am totally assuming b/c non-Catholics usually have no idea about The Immaculate Conception).
Seriously woman, was killing me once not enough for the day?!!
Shush it Catholics! I typed it into Google and that's the picture that came up, and everyone knows that Google is always right. :-P
Hehehehehehe.
Not true! I'm Non-Catholic and I knew about the Immaculate conception of Mary.
I was however a biblical studies major...
Explain, please. I'm confused.
We can't help it. It has been drilled into our heads our whole lives. AND my H works for the church - I can't even escape now!
I went to a Jesuit university and learned this in school. It blew my mind - I had no idea.
Would said Jesuit university, judging by your location, be MU by any chance?
Yes it was. 2 years for undergrad and 3 years for law school. And my niece is graduating from MU in May!
