Nursery Storage?

I also posted this on the Nurseries and Baby Gear Board but figured the more ideas the better. :)

Our nursey is a good size, just has a ton of windows that I don't want to cover, not to mention other odd architectural aspects that make placing funiture tricky. Sooo, here's where I need your creative ideas ladies!

Share with me your way of having storage in your nursery! I'm open to any ideas, I just need many options to choose from as not everything works easily with the space I have to work with!

 TIA!

Re: Nursery Storage?

  • You can get a short bookshelf and use canvas baskets for storage.

  • Bins under the crib? Or some cribs have drawers built in underneath.

You might also do something like a kitchen "island" in the middle. Find an interesting piece of furniture that doesn't have a specific back or front (but has storage) and put it in the middle of the room. Plus it can be your changing station.

    Good luck!

  • I got a few of those plastic bins with the drawers. It's really good for keeping everything separate and organized and it fit in the closet pretty well. They aren't terribly expensive either.

  • I think having a dresser instead of a changing table will help. I think we are going to put a short bookshelf in the room as well and I'll probably end up with storage of some sort under the crib. For knick knacks, I was thinking of a few of those floating shelves on the walls. I'm a little anxious about having enough storage space too.

  • I got these that fit into small nooks/crannies, they're super cheap and super convienent!! I was able to fit 3 of them into the gap under the changing table.

Then I got this which fit inside the closet, and got different sized tubs which is where i'm storing all the LO's clothes.

I would post pics but i'm at work and photobucket is blocked...I can do it once I get home.

  • Itso storage at Target. get a bunch of bins to go in them. it can be rearranged easily. I used it in my coat closet at my old place. now its in the nursery, for clothes to start, later it will be for toy storage.
  • LO will be in our room for at least the first few months, and our second bedroom will be a guest room (no point in decorating it as a nursery when we won't be using it as one, right?), so I got canvas bins from BRU.  I got 3 of https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3006549, one of https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3006574, one of https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3006558, and one of https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3006556.  They're buy one get one 50% off, are a nice neutral color that go with our decor, and easy to put on a shelf, in the closet, or wherever you have space.  I like the one that goes over the door, because we can put it out of the way of everything.

If you got some low bookshelves that went under the windows, you could line the bins up in there, and it would be easy to clean up everything and it would look neat.  Then when LO is older, you could use them for toy storage!

This exactly. I got a long, wide storage bin for under the crib which has 6 +months clothing in it.  I'm getting some soft storage bins from target to go on the bottom shelf of the bookshelf for small toys.  Our dresser/changer has a cabinet that I'm using for blankets, first aid stuff, and misc products.  Once I'm able to clear some boxes and such out of the closet I will probably invest in some sort of organizer in there.

  • Thanks for all the ideas! Some really helped a lot. I wish I was able to post a picture of the room from work, beacuse it is a really tricky space. It's super bright and seemed perfect for a nursery, until we started getting furniture in there and arranging it! Being a 100 year old "character" home DOES have it's downfalls. :(

  • We have a shelving unit with baskets, a large underbed storage bin for the crib, and the dresser. We also are lucky to have a window seat with storage beneath. That's pretty much it. GL!

  • You can get cute canvas storage totes from Land of Nod and put like 3 in a row? I did that for my kids' playroom and it cleans up everything SO nice.
