Should I cut out a pumping session?

Sorry for the flurry of posts...I have a break in my meetings.  I pump 4x at work: 9:30, 11, 1, and 4.  Recently I get nothing at my 11:00.  I used to be able to stop, start again and get a let down.  This past 5-6 days I have left that pumping session with nothing.  At 1:00 I get a letdown easily.  So my question is should I keep the 11:00 just in case I get a let down?  does it help to just stimulate things even if there's no result?  I have supply issues as is so if this helps keep things flowing (ha) then I'll keep doing it.  Or should I save the time and cut it completely?

Re: Should I cut out a pumping session?

  • You are probably ok to cut it...I work a 12 hour shift and pump only 3 times, between 830-9, 12-1 and 4-5.

  • The LC that I worked with said that you should pump whenever possible even if you get nothing, just for the stimulation.  That being said, I know how frustrating it is to pump with little to no results.  But I guess if it helps keep up your supply it's worth it.  Good luck!

If you have issues with your supply, I'd keep the 11 am session. The stimulation wil be good, and you may start to produce milk again.
