with your baby and took them everywhere- even during nap times. How soon did your baby start STTN and how was their overall temperament. Cranky? happy? irritable? chill?
I am asking because last week I saw a post asking if moms were still strict on schedule at this stage. Since we are expecting baby #2, I would love to be more "loosy goosey" with baby #2's schedule- especially having a toddler now, they will have to be flexible. However, DD started STTN (10 hours) by 6 weeks because she had a nice schedule and we stuck to it and tried our best not to comprise her daytime naps for outings too often. So, she has mostly been a well rested and happy baby. However, its harder for her now to sleep "on the go" although she does to well sleeping in her PnP and people's houses. We are starting to expose to more variations so she can learn go go with the flow more.
Id like to be flex with baby #2, but wonder if it will effect the overall temperament and night time sleeping (espcially the whole STTN) thing.
Re: If you never really had a schedule or had a very "flex" schedule
We never had a schedule with DD and she STTN at 6 weeks as well. We were always on the go and still are. She naps when she naps, and she's no worse for the wear if she doesn't get a really long nap in. Sometimes she'll get cranky, but she usually snaps out of it. If she's truly exhausted she will fall asleep no matter where she is...she's fallen asleep several times on the floor while playing!
And she sleeps well on the go too...we have left her overnight with many various people/houses and she falls asleep there just as easily as her own crib.
DS didn't start STTN until he was 11 months old, but I never really attributed that to having a flexible schedule. We have never left places early due to bedtime or made arrangements around naptime. I've always just let him take a late nap or sleep in the car/stroller/my lap. He always gets his long nap in no matter where we are at, so his temperament is good! He will crash on our laps or in our arms if we stay somewhere too late.
So yes, I guess you could say it maybe effected the STTN thing but I attribute that more towards just the way he is and breastfeeding, etc. But on the other hand he is very "go with the flow" which I enjoy!
She STTN at 6 weeks. She's also always been a very happy, laid-back child (generally speaking).
