Gymboree (clothing)

Why can't you use a merchandise credit if you are using GymBucks?  I do not understand.  I get why they don't allow the 20% coupon, but the credit is like any other form of payment.  ???  I was irritated to find this out AFTER I had picked things out and was at the register (then, of course, I didn't want to take the time to figure out what I wanted to leave behind).

  • That's crazy! Do they not let you use gift cards either? A merchandise credit is pretty much the same thing!

  • from a retail perspective, it's probably to avoid financial loss. people will steal stuff, return it for credit, use the credit to buy new things, demand cash back, and on and on. many retailers are having to get strict on stuff. it's not fair to those of us who are honest but stores do have to protect themselves and the way this benefits us is by keeping prices from getting outrageous in order for companies to be able to turn profit. honestly, you would be amazed at the stuff that people can do with returns and credits, etc...

I understand this (I was in retail, too - at the Service Desk - for 7 years) and people who steal suck!  I had a gift receipt, though.  I wish there was a way to distinguish between people that don't have documentation, and people that do.
