What to do about this baby gift??

A friend of mine sent DS baby gift. It's a Dr. Seuss outfit. DS nursery is Dr. Seuss so we love the outfit. Problem is, it's purple and not at all boyish. She got it from ebay and had it send directly to us. I don't know if she knows it's purple or not.

What do you suggest I do? Do I say thank you and leave it at that or do I mention that it's purple (maybe she thought it was a different color or I got sent the wrong thing). What to do, what to do....

I'd call her to say thank you, tell her DS looks adorable in it (I'd actually try it on him, just out of curiostity lol) and mention that you didn't think purple would be much of a boy color and see what she says. If DS ended up looking adorable in it anyway, I'd keep it and maybe put it on him again at some point. If it made him look like a girl, I'd probably donate it.

I wouldn't say anything. I'd just say thank you and leave it at that. I don't know that I can think of a polite way to bring it up.

Take a pic of him in it, keep it until he outgrows it, which won't take long, and then take it to a kid's consignment shop and trade it in for something you like.

Personally, I'd put the outfit on DS, take a picture and send it to her. Then, I'd pack it away or donate it. I've gotten some funky stuff for DD but I still put it on her at least once so the giver can feel appreciated.
