So confused- can someone help me figure this out?!
I had a dx missed miscarriage on 3/17 and a d&e on 3/19 (3 and a half weeks ago). I only spotted for a day after the d&e and spotted again for a day 2 weeks after the d&e. I feel like I am getting my period with typical PMS symptoms like lower back ache and bloating. This thursday coming up would be 28 days which is my "old normal" time for a cycle. I decided to take 2 pregnancy tests today just for the purpose of making sure that my HCG was back to 0. We have not had sex yet since the D&E so I know I am not pregnant. My OB did not test my levels as this was my first loss and I had 2 healthy pregnancies prior to this she didn't think I needed anything checked out after my initial 2 week followup. I took a target up and up early results test and an answer early response test and they were both positive. I am so pissed off and confused!! I thought that My levels would be at 0 after 3 and a half weeks and I did not think you could get your period if you still had hcg left over from the miscarriage. My OB said not to worry about hcg and just to know that once you got your period your levels would be 0. Do you think that my period will not come now that I tested positive on these tests. I just want this period to come so bad. I am going to try and wait until my next period after this to ttc (My OB said one cycle was fine, 2 is better). What do you girls think- how long did it take for your hcg to return to 0 and do you think my period is coming ir is my body faking me out? Also, why do I see all these women on here with there OB's testing and retesting their HCG or betas and my OB never even mentioned these things to me. Taking the test was my own idea to "self check" that the HCG was out of my system. Thanks so much for any input you may have . I am just so confused and frustrated. All I want to do is to get pregnant again and this feels like a set back that I can't make sense of. Also, I am sorry for everyone's losses.

I am so sorry for your loss - and the confusion over your levels. It is possible that your levels haven't gone all the way down - it took mine 6 weeks to the day of my m/c for me to get the call that my levels were 0.
I think it would be fine for you to call your OB and request a blood test - and another one a week later to see if they are still falling. Your OB NEEDS to know if you are bleeding with HCG levels - there could still be tissue left if that is the case. I would call.

From my understanding, the amount of time it takes a woman to reach 0 HCG after a miscarriage, really varies and, it's not uncommon at all for your first period to come later than normal. This is part of the reason why doctors want you to wait for your cycle to come on it's own. I wouldn't expect your first cycle to be normal as far as how long it takes to arrive because your miscarriage was not a normal cycle prior to it, you know?
I'm so sorry for your loss and your frustration at waiting for your period to show. I'm at 30 days post-MC and still waiting for mine as well. This in-between stage really sucks.
