Me? The crib set...I don't care, I spent $300 on the set and I love the way DD's room looks. She uses everything but the quilt, but it's sitting at the end of the twin bed in that room and it looks great. BUT, I realized that spending that $$ was crazy, and I could never expect anyone to pay that kind of money for a crib set so I bought it myself.
Plus? The sheet that came with the set is SWEET! Seriously, I'd die to sleep on sheets that plush!!!

Re: s/o What did you splurge on/register for that people said was crazy to spend $$ on?
I think our bedding set was the only thing we really splurged on Per se. We put it on our registry and didn't expect anyone to buy it (we did it for the completion coupon) and my Parents ended up getting it.
Other than that everything we registered for, even our big ticket Items were pretty middle of the road price wise. We planned to pay for everything we needed that we didn't get so we didn't go crazy.
We obviously are not registering for this one but My IL's and My Parents are getting us the double stroller we wanted, as a grand parent gift, we were going to buy it but got yelled at because apprently they already bought it and were trying to suprise us LOL.
My Mom is throwing a welcome baby party for us (we didn't ask) and I have a feeling we will get alot of clothes because this one is a boy
.
My MIL bought our nursery rug and mobile from PBK. I think that they looked pretty but I don't think that I would have bought them if I was the one paying.
ETA: I did not register at PBK. My MIL bought them for us after she saw the catalog. I was planning on decorating the nursery in neutral colors with elephants and polka dots. The rug and mobile were a perfect match but I thought that they were pricey for their purpose.
To all who bought things themselves...that was a rule of mine. Do not put it on the registry if you wouldn't pay $$ for it yourself. Basically, don't throw the $900 Orbit system on there just so someone else will buy it for us b/c we sure as he11 wouldn't pay that kind of money for it ourselves!!
This was our rule as well. I also wasn't going to register for something cheaper, just so someone would buy for me. We ended up buying a lot of big ticket items ourselves. We didn't get a single hand me down item. We weren't deemed to be the neediest people having kids in our family. So now I am scrooge when it comes to handing stuff down.
