DD calls me Mommy or Mummy. I never called myself anything but Mommy to her because I didn't want to be called Momma or Mama.
MIL and SIL always refer to me as "Momma" to her and it makes me crazy. SIL's kids are all teenagers and they still call her Momma. I guess it's just habit for them but it annoys me.
Is "Momma" a Southern thing? I don't mean to offend anyone by that, of course. We spent the last two years living in Alabama and Texas it seems like everyone says that down there. Apparently "Mummy" is pretentious, according to some of DH's family. Just curious what everyone else goes by.

I should clarify that "Mama" melted my heart when she was first talking. I'm just glad she switched to Mommy/Mummy at 2 because that's what I secretly wanted.
I think adults saying "Mama" is weird though, which is what DH's family does (although he is a big boy and says "Mom")

I still call my mom Momma. Yes, it's very southern. I grew up in MS.
my dc call me Momma and Mommy. we live in nyc.
my mil goes by MawMaw (which is also a southern thing) by the grandkids. I remember a friend did not want her lo to call her mil that b/c "it sounds too much like mama". and I never thought that until ds started calling her MawMaw... and it really does sound a little like Mama. but I'm the Momma, so who cares? lol. My mom goes by Nana. She wanted to be Nona (Italian) but my nephew called her Nana and it stuck.
DD always calls me mommy. DS calls me mommy most of the time but has started to call me mom and I don't like it...it just sounds too grown up. As PP said in 12 years mom is okay but not yet.
I do think that momma is a southern thing. It is okay but not my preference either.
"Mummy" is very British, so that's where we Canadians get it from. MIL (from Texas) looked at me like I was crazy when I first told her I wanted to be Mummy or Mommy.
"MawMaw" is HUGE in Texas where we lived, but mostly for Grammas. Then there was MeeMaw.
DH is from Australia and he and his siblings call MIL "mum".
yeah, I wouldn't think you'd hear too many moms referred to as Mum or Mummy in KY , huh?
My MIL goes by MawMaw as the term for Grandmother (just linking the story of the MawMaw sounds too much like Mama thing). My dh and his sibs call her Mom. She's originally from Minnesota ... FIL is from NOLA... so they live there.. that's how she took the grandma name "MawMaw" our dads go by PawPaw. ... oh and I still call my dad Daddy most of the time and my dh calls his Papa or Pop. ?
I'd forgotten about Australians. People I know from there say "Mum" too.
I guess I don't get this. My kids can call me mother, momma, mama, ma, mommy, mum, mom ... so long as they don't call me anything vulgar and don't call me by my first name, call me any reference to Mother and I'm fine. My mom had a big dislike of the name "mommy" I don't ever remember calling her Mommy... she hated it.
i just don't get it?
I'm Mommy or Mama.
Maybe Momma or Mama is a regional thing.
I'd actually prefer to be called 'Mom' by my DC when they're older....says the lady whose bump name is "MamaNikki"....Ha ha haaa.
My mom calls her mom "Mother." However, she grew up in Southern California.
Ben calls me Mommy.
DH is Daddy and I am Mommy.
DS is "DadDad," which is the closest that he can get to his name. It confuses people when he's talking around them.
DS calls me Mommy. I don't mind if I'm Mommy or Mummy and when he's older I won't mind Mom.
I always called my mom Mummy or Mom. I still refer to her as that and she's been gone for 3 years.
