I would not wait any more than 6 mos before going which is the standard for anyone ttc over 35. I waited about 7 mos and made the appt for the RE then got pregnant, miscarriage, now my OB says only to try for 3 mos and then go back.

Most docs recommend 6 mos of trying to conceive before seeing specialist if over 35. Sounds like a fluke with what happened to your precious girls. how long did it take to get pregnant with them?
If you are thinking about it, I would just call and ask your doc what he/she thinks. I would think it would depend on how long you were trying before you got pregnant with the twins too.
I saw my OB after 6 months with no BFP. I ended up at the RE after DH had a dismal SA result. I figured since I had an ovulatory dysfunction and DH had problems that we'd better head to the RE. Now, DH's problems are fine, but I am still struggling to get pregnant. I wouldn't waste time. I wish I'd gone sooner.

I agree with the PPs, the sooner the better. Getting an appointment, testing, etc. can take time. If you get a BFP in the meantime, great! If not, then things are in place and you can take any steps you need to take.
Good luck!

On Cycle 9 right now. We got pregnant on cycle 6, but early M/C. I am thinking of consulting an RE maybe after this cycle. Good luck!
I give up trying to get a ticker. I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome. Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself. Hmmm. How about...

My OB said the 6 month clock started over again once I began TTC after my m/c. I didn't like that advice, and went to see an RE 3 months later instead. No point in waiting. You might as well get preliminary testing done to rule any problems out, even if you don't change your course of action.
I'm so sorry for your losses. If you think it might have been a 'fluke' (meaning your pregnancy right?), which I'm sure wasn't but I understand that feeling, I don't see the harm in going now. P.s. I waited almost 2 years after my first m/c.
I am so sorry for your losses. I have heard that if you are 35+ you shouldn't really waste any time. I think 6 mos is standard, but no one is going to fault you if you go sooner. Are you on a loss board? That helped me so much when I was ttc with DD after a loss.
I am on my 7th cycle ttc, im not waiting anymore, i started bloodwork last week and getting more done on cd21 this cycle and i am waiting for an RE appt (hopefuly soon), if you are trying longer than 6mths and over 35 then i would speak to a doc. So sorry for your loss (hugs) good luck and hoping you get your BFP and your 2011 baby soon!
We saw my obgyn as soon as we wanted to seriously start trying because I knew I'd have some issues. We tried nonmedicated for about 6 months (using charting and OPKs), then tried clomid for about 5 cycles. We were then referred to my RE.
Re: How long TTC before going to an RE?
I'm so very for your loss.

I had a miscarriage end of January, turned 40 Feb 1 and went to RE as first consultation last week. I did not wait much anymore.

Generally it is rec. that you wait 6 months after 35. I would go sooner if you are close to 40 and if it took a long time to concieve your twins.
