eliminating night time milk/water for pting?

how did you do this? DS has a sippy of milk before bed during stories and then water while he falls asleep. Not sure how to cut these out? give them early? but they seem to help calm him down for bed.

  • All I can say is that I am glad you posted this bc I wonder the same thing!!!

  • Skip the milk.  Better for PTing and for teeth. Many are surprised how easy it is to get off the milk before bed.

Sometimes DD asks for some water, but I always tell her not to slurp too much so she's not up peeing all night.  :P

  • Honestly, we haven't cut out the water. She goes to bed with a sippy of water every night, and she's not ready to give it up. I do put a pull up on her at night (which has not effected her potty training AT ALL). And she actually woke up completely dry this morning, after 12.5 hours.
  • I didn't eliminate those things. DD has a sippy of water by her bed that she regularly drinks from.

Personally, I think if they're ready to stay dry overnight, then they'll stay dry, regardless of whether they have evening beverages. Plus, we live in the desert so I never want to deprive DD of water.

  • We still give DD milk before bed, and brush her teeth after the milk. We just make sure she drinks it early enough to go peepee before bed, after the teeth brushing.
