Hooray! We waited longer than we should have but I finally followed the advice of an orthodontist friend and a dentist friend and cut the tip off. She was only using it at night and naptime. I have to admit that night three was pretty rough but here we are 5 days into it and we have had no trouble recently with bedtime or nap time. Thank goodness and good riddance!

Hooray for no pacifier! I so wish that we had gotten rid of them a few months ago. I think it would've been far less *traumatic*. Now, he literally cries for them, reaching out like we've taken away his best friend. It's pitiful. I really dread this transition...
All of the rounded part plus a little bit more. There is still enough of a stub left that she can still put it into and hold it in her mouth if she wanted. Does that make sense?

Married to my BFF on 8.13.05 (after dating 5 years)!
DS born 2.14.08. DD born 9.30.09.
She looked at us like "WTF?" She knew it wasn't quite right. The first night she tried to go with it. Night two she threw it out of the crib. When she woke up in the night I had to go in and calm her once. Night three she was pretty upset for about an hour trying to get to sleep. Night four she threw it out of the crib again and went right to bed. Same thing with nights 5 and 6, just going right to bed.
We cut off all of the rounded part plus a bit a more. Friends of ours who are a dentist and an orthodontist respectively recommended that because it takes away the suction when they suck on it so they lose interest. Seems to be working so far.
