So I think I'm in labor. I've been having contractions for 5ish hrs now. They started about 6 mins apart and are now about 3. They're pretty painful, but I have felt worse when I was in labor with Colin. Am I supposed to wait a certain amount of time with contractions 3 mins apart before I go in? And does it matter that they're not killer painful, just really really uncomfortable? I sure hope this is it cause if it's not it really sucks!
Re: I think I'm in labor....quick question for you.....
I went in to the hospital when my contractions were 3 minutes apart (which they started at so it was only 2 hours after they started). I went in because I remembered dilating fast with DS#1...and also I just don't mind laboring at the hospital. I didn't feel the need to stay home.
Just don't wait too long. GOOD LUCK!
I forgot to add that part, my practice doesn't have a "call" line, it's just go in if you think you need to. I've just finished getting my bags around and am waiting for dh to get home. I think we're headed in soon as long as nothing changes before he gets here.
I'd go in with in the hour if I were you. Good luck!
Who thinks we're going to have another nestie have her baby at home ?
At 3 minutes, I would probably call your OB/midwife/doula and make my way in. Just b/c they're not horribly painful (they really don't have to be) doesn't mean they're not doing what they're supposed to be doing!
Good luck!
When in doubt, I'd say call your OB and see what they recommend... different practices seem to have different standards for when to head into the hospital.
Good luck!!
Like everyone else said, I would go in!

Some Sort of Nonsense (My Blog)
I would get my bootie to the hospital. Like everyone else said, the second baby can come much quicker than the first. Once my contractions hit three minutes apart, it became a whirlwind. We went to the hospital and I had my baby in my arms an hour later!
Good Luck!
I was told 4-1-1. 4 minutes apart, lasting one minute, for one hour.
I am pretty surprised that no one else suggested this. I am sure the OP is long gone by now, but this is what I was told as well.
