Celebrating Adoptions Shoot

We just got back from our Celebrating Adoptions photoshoot and we were so impressed. Not only was our photographer the sweetest girl ever, but her deal for adoptive families is that she does a free shoot, gives us all the digital originals and a free mini photo album. Wow! I felt guilty even taking the offer. She told us to come back and she would do the same thing for the new baby once she is born. We told her we would definitely be back but we would pay her next time. She does a special shoot each fall where she takes a vintage crib and highchair into the fields and shoots there. We saw the samples of those and are already signing up! 

Anyway, if you guys have photographers in your area that participate I would highly recommend it. I know it really depends on the photographer but I think it is great to show appreciation for such a great gesture. She and her husband do it because they are really considering adoption and we were able to give them a ton of information. I will post some of them as soon as we get them!

    I am so happy to hear you had a great experience. I have emailed two photograpers listed on the website and heard back from one. But when I tried to schedule a date I did hear back from her again. I will try and call her instead of email.  Our SW that did our homestudy and post placement said she has seen some of the picture other families have had done and they have turned out great. It really is such a special service and gift the photographers are providing.

    That is awesome!!!  I had never heard of that before.

    I'm happy to see there are participating ones in Canada!!!  I will definately be looking into that!

    Oh and our photographer said that the woman who runs it has gotten sick and really isn't keeping up with it really. The photographers are just kind of doing it on their own. It's possible that if someone isn't responding, perhaps the list is outdated? I think I understood that right....

    That's fantastic!

    Sadly, we don't have a photographer nearby :( But a friend of DH's does family photos--I'm looking forward to that.

    I contacted the local photographer here that was on the list and really wanted to do the photo shoot, but time got away from us and before the we knew it Shelby was a year old! Plus my husband was convinced that it wasn't totally free, no matter how much I tried to convince him and then he said even if it was free, then  we would need to give her a really, really good tip!

    We did this, too and it was terrific.  Our photographer adopted her daughter from China.  We're going back to her (but paying this time) for Quinn's one year photos. 

    So I concur, take advantage of this program!
