Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Talk to me about crawling.....

On Friday night, Jackson started army crawling (he doesn't get very far, but he's definitely moving) and getting up on his hands and knees.

If your LO is crawling, how long after they started doing these things did the real crawling begin? We have not baby proofed yet, even though DH and I have been saying for the last 3 months that we need to get it done. Crap!

Re: Talk to me about crawling.....

  • DD has been army crawling/getting up on her hands/knees for weeks.  She actually crawls on the floor, but with her belly (uses both arms and legs) on the floor.  She only really crawls every once in awhile, and it's only a few short "steps" and then she's back on the ground.

Still, she gets where she wants to go, and quickly, so I'd baby proof quickly.

  • My daughter army crawls since about six months, now she is getting up on her hands and knees....babyproof now though, because he is going to perfect army crawling and be just as fast as those that crawl regularly :)

  • Lauryn rocked on all 4's and never army crawled.  She would rock and lunge forward.  This went on for a good two weeks.  One day she just figured out she had to move her arms as well and once she did, she was off and has not stopped since.

  • DS never army crawled.  After getting up on his hands and knees it was about 4-6 weeks.  So for you I bet it will be any day.

He went backwards a few steps one day and the next he slowly crawled a few feet.  Within a few days he was all over the room and now he crawls super fast and is into EVERYTHING! lol

  • Hannah just rolls...EVERYWHERE!

  • My DD never army crawled.  She got up on all fours and started rocking one day and 2 days later was crawling and this all started right at 7 months.  Every child is so different, so it's hard to tell what will happen.  : )
  • DS did that sort of thing for two and a half weeks before he actually crawled. He then pulled up five days after crawling.

  • Yes! and both from VA!!  Crazy!
  • DS got up onto his knees for about 6 weeks before he started crawling 2 weeks ago.  We still haven't baby-proofed... guess that's on the to-do list for next weekend!
  • DD never army crawled but she would get up on her hands and knees and rock back and forth.  About 3-4 weeks later she was full on crawling and pulling up.

DD rocked on all fours for about a week, then took off crawling. No army crawl here. Then she pulled herself up to standing a week later and started cruising the furniture a week after that. Get it proofed b/c they just get more mobile after that :o)
