Hi, Is it to early for my son to take only one nap? If he takes a second nap he usually only takes 30 mins and is up really late.Oh and one more thing, should he always sleep in a crib if he is only taking one nap or can he take his nap in his stroller? Thank you,Lily
Re: 9 month old nap
My amateur photo blog
I was told that it was in DD's best interest, developmentally, to keep her on two naps until at least 14 months. Not sure why. We had a bit of an issue with her afternoon nap when she was your LO's age, but she got over it and took 2 naps until 15 months.
Some babies do drop that second nap early, but I would be sure that's what your LO needs before you do it. It would be difficult to turn back. Lol. My pedi also said that its always best to let LO nap in their room so that they can get a good rest. Obviously there are exceptions to this, but as a general rule, try to be home for that nap.
GL!
My son is still on 2 naps...and I can't quite imagine him going to 1 yet. I think a lot depends on your babe and your timing. We take our 1st nap early. He usually wakes up between 6 and 7, goes for a nap between 9 and 10 and is up by 11. Then he takes another nap sometime between 3 and 4 usually. I try not to let him sleep after 5...but I never wake him up (never wake a sleeping baby right?). He goes to bed for the night at 8 and he usually goes all night (but we are still having trouble with dream feeds).
He actually sleeps better at night when he's had more sleep during the day, and mommy needs his nap time to get some things done.
As far as where he sleeps, I try to get him in his crib at home. But, sometimes I just put him on the floor on a blanket and he's fine. He's also taken many a nap in his carseat or stroller while we were out running errands. I'll miss those days when they're over. Again, I think that just depends on your babe.
That's just us. Hope it helps.
