If AF shows up later than usual, do you ovulate later too?

Ok, AF showed up four days late this month, which NEVER happens. So, does that mean I'm going to O four days later than normal too? I'm just curious if any of you have had this happen and did you O later than usual? I'm using O test strips when AF is gone but DH and I are going to try gettin busy every other day this month.

  • I am not an expert on charting for O.  I have really only used OPKs, CM and how I "felt".  I get pretty randy around that time.  That said, I don't know if you can ever know for sure when you actually O unless you are being monitored by an RE.  I am confused though.  Are you asking if you O'd late last cycle (before you got your period) or are you going to O late this cycle?  Considering everyone O's at different times in their cycle, I am not sure when you got your period has anything to do with it.  Some O really early and some O really late and some O right in the middle.  OPKs should give you a good idea.  That's a lot of "Os" in one paragraph. Stick out tongue  Good luck!
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • Lol, Izz, I guess I wasn't very clear. I was wondering it my late period meant that I ovulated later than usual this cycle. If it did, then that means I didn't have sex at the right time either. For this past cycle I went strictly by the 14 day rule. I just got the bible, Taking Charge of Your Fertility, in the mail yesterday and I'm gonna sit down and read it this evening. I'm also wondering if I started my period later, then that does mean I'll O later this next cycle than usual, or will my cycle be on time this month? Boy this stuff can give you a headache!! I'm starting to wonder if the unusually high stress I've had at work the last couple of weeks is what whacked everything of track for me. I'ts been BAD at work lately.
  • If you got AF a few days late, then most likely you did O late the last cycle. Your luteal phase should be consistent, but the time that you O can vary greatly.  The late AF will not affect your O this cycle. You may O earlier or later than normal, but it does not have anything to do with AF.  And, yes, stress can definitely delay O.
