What were you doing five years ago?

I was in college, a junior. I was living in the city with my sister. I was working at a snowboard shop waxing and selling boards. I was planning a trip to live in New Zealand for the summer with DH (who was bf at the time). DH was working as a bark blower, volunteering at the fire department. Crazy how much has changed!

Well let's see... I was 23 and finishing up my undergrad. Living in my first apartment on my own here in Pittsburgh. Working at an art museum. My boyfriend at the time was in Iraq and I hated every minute of it. I was pretty crazy and wild, so I was out CONSTANTLY and traveled all over to see bands.?

oh my... lol... I didn't know DH at the time either.... thank god he probably would have hated me.?

I was in college, dating another guy very seriously, and living in my very first apartment. I had just turned 21 and was working at the coffee shop where DH and I would meet (again). DH was in Iraq and I had only met him once or twice, we started dating when he came back home.

I was 19, in nursing school, and desperately trying to stay away from DH as I was seriously dating someone else at the time. Clearly the avoidance thing didn't work. It was fate for us to meet at that time!!!

I was a year and a half into my stay in Okinawa. DH and I just passed our 1st anniversary and were having fun being "young and stupid" and going to bars, as we both joined the military right out of high school so didn't do the college thing. A lot and nothing has changed at the same time, if that even makes sense. We're still in Oki (only for a little bit longer) but we don't really go out to bars that much any more (even before DS was born we didn't really) and pretty much "grew up." I can't figure out where the time has gone...

I was trying to finish up school, living in a house w/ 3 other girls (one being my BFF), working two jobs (daycare and at a coffeehouse), and planning a wedding (NOT for DH & me, my high school sweetheart).

Man, times HAVE changed a ton & for the better. Sometimes you have to thank God for unanswered prayers.

Scrambling like crazy to find a house. I moved to OK to live with DH and my boss found both myself and him jobs so that we could move back to CO. They offered us jobs in April and we started in July. We were also planning our wedding

5 years ago I was working at a courier company, dating a guy from England who was a music management major (not DH), and had just gotten back from England for the first time. I didn't have my driver's license back then, and with relying on my dad for rides to and from work (we lived an hour drive from my work), I was away from the house on a regular basis for over 14 hours a day.

Seriously? I started reading the responses and never felt so old before. I was 30 years old, I think DH and I were moving in together this week in April actually. We weren't married or engaged. I was working and still loving my job. I was so happy and we loved our little 1bdroom apartment. Life was good!!!

I feel old too, but I'm not even old IMO :-/ Well 5 years ago I was a month away from finishing my first year of grad school. I was questioning what would be the next step in the relationship with my boyfriend since we had been together for a little over 3 years. Well 5 months later we moved in together and about 11 months later we were engaged...he's the amazing DH in the picture below :-)

This is how I feel. I was 33 and teaching 8th grade English. That was the year I swore I wouldn't date anyone, since I couldn't remember the last time I hadn't had a boyfriend. I just hung out with my friends and traveled. Hadn't even met DH!

I was pregnant with DS, working at an inner city charter school and hating my job. DH and I weren't together at that time (yep, DS is his), and I was stressing about being a single mom and knew that I wasn't going to be at my job again next year, and was stressing about that too. But, I was also enjoying being pregnant, and looking forward to this little unexpected life that was about to rock my world... Smile

Now my little guy is almost 5, and it's hard to believe the time has passed so quickly!

I was working at a production company laying out academic books and journals (typesetting/paginating). We had been married almost 2 years, and were renting an apartment, trying to save for our first house (that we bought the next October and are still living in). I also had a verrry small fiber business under the name Woolgathered, I dyed wool and spun it into yarn!!! I miss my spinning wheel, but I'll get back to it some day!

Was 20, a junior in college. Just broke up from a serious relationship. DH started making moves but gave him the cold shoulder. Working and living downtown Chicago! Totally different from my currently madly in love marriage in the burbs!
