12 week u/s today - are they right about the gender?

Has this happened to anyone yet? I got my 12 week u/s done today and the tech saw a line near the baby's bottom that was straight and not pointed up. The tech said that usually means it's a girl, but they could be wrong. So has anyone had the same thing happen - they see that line that is not pointing up and that's supposed to be the labia on a girl. Straight line up is the penis for a boy. Will it move or look different in the 20 week u/s? Just want opinions - we are not about to start buying things yet, but I had a feeling a boy was growing inside of me, but who knows!! Thanks!!

  • I wasn't given a reason why they thought girl at our 12 week u/s, but they told us girl, and we have a boy.  We were only told girl at that u/s and then boy at all u/s after.
After 2 years and 6 IUIs, we did it with IVF w/ ICSI!

  • We were told girl at our 12 wk u/s because of dots, not lines. They always referred to the dots when speaking about our DD.
  • With DS I didn't have a u/s at 12 weeks, I think it was more like 8 weeks.  Anyway, I personally wouldn't trust u/s results until after 18 weeks or so and even sometimes those are wrong!

  • I also had an u/s done at 12 weeks for my genetics testing and I was also told I was having a girl bc of the same reason as you, they said they havent been wrong yet, but also said this was just a prediction, I have my Big U/S on the 22nd of this month! I also was thinking I had a little boy inside me! But we shall find out soon enough! Im not really sure what to think about such an early prediction. My doctor said he is not going to trust that and we will wait till the big u/s. It was a diff. doctor that did my 12 week u/s.
  • We were told this baby is a boy at 12 and 14 week bc it was sticking straight up.  It is a boy.

  • Keep me posted on what they say!! All they saw in mine was a horizontal line in the butt area, however I have been reading that they usually see three lines for a girl and that that one line could eventually change directions and be a boy?? So I had just turned 12 weeks on that day, so the baby is really on 10 weeks in my belly - so how accurate could it be?
