yuck stop putting your fingers in my baby's mouth!

It's soooo gross! I had to tell my own mother this yesterday...she was running around the house doing stuff and then was holding LO and stuck her finger right in his mouth..GROSS! I nicely told her to please not do this and she acted like it was the weirdest request ever! This is like the 3d or 4th person to try to do this! What is wrong with people?

    MIL and DH are the same way. It grosses me out.  I scold DH but have asked him to tell his Mom not to.  She already hates me and would have more ammunition if she thought it was me who didn't want her greasy grimey hands in my baby's mouth.

    It amazes me that ppl think it's okay. Esp when she was a newborn.  Ppl did it all the time. I'd say things like, "oops! she got your finger, that's yucky. we don't suck on ppls fingers" or something to kind of scold them without yelling or going BSC.

    People seriously don't think sometimes! DH's aunt ALWAYS kisses DD on the lips! I mean, seriously?!? She's my baby & I don't even really do that! Come on people, let's use some common sense about germs, etc!

    I agree. Really gross! I rarely put fingers in her mouth, and only if they are washed really well!

    Fingers in mouth dosen't bother me if it's family and they have clean hands..DS takes peoples fingers and puts them in his mouth anyway to bite...oye...but it drives me nuts when anyone kisses our little guy on the mouth! I don't do that myself..it's weird and seems really unhygenic

    If it were a stranger I would be upset. But family doesn't bother me one bit. It weirded me out when DH all but refused to put his finger in DD's mouth to feel her first tooth. Between nursing, feeding solids, and giving vitamins/medicine, I feel like some part of my body is constantly in her mouth.

    Ew, why would you PUT your finger in a baby's mouth??

    My mom lets DD chew on the side of her finger but it makes the baby's gums feel good and my mom always washes her hands before she holds her so I let it slide. DD is a biter, lol.

    When BFing in the hospital, we were told to do this if DD just wanted to suck. This is to avoid nipple confusion you would get by using a paci. We did this for a while (only ever DH or I and only when we'd just washed our hands), and then eventually gave up and gave her a paci. I think it is an old trick, so that might be why they do it without even thinking.
