Update on Operation nap-in-crib

Baby 3, Mom/Dad 0

We tried for an hour and a half this morning to get her to nap in her crib.  Finally I held her.  30 minute nap.

Nap 2 - she fell asleep in her car seat after the park.  30 minutes

Nap 3 - in my arms.  25 minutes.

I'm not feeling very good about tomorrow...

  • Oh no!  I'm of no help.  DD naps like a champ - all I have to do is put in her in her crib with her paci and blanket and walk out.  BUT I had nothing to do with it.  Her DCP deserves all the credit...thankfully she naps the same at home as she does at DC.

  • We too are employing Operation N-I-C

    Day 1:

First nap: 9am - 9:45 (after 30 minutes of rolling around before falling asleep)

Second nap: 1 - 1:30 (after 40 minutes of rolling around)

Third nap: 4 - 4:30 (after 30 minutes of fussing)

So, 1h45m total of naptime today.  This is from a kid who regularly naps for 3-4hrs.   Sad

  • Yup. 3 naps today in her crib. 40 minutes, 30 minutes, 30 minutes.

So frustrating. She's so tired, but she won't sleep.

Didn't you guys do some sleep training at night? Can you do that at nap time too? How did last night go? Did you feed her?

  • So sorry! Tomorrow's a new day!! Good Luck momma!

  • Ugh, I'm sorry.  DD is also taking 30-minutes-or-less naps these days.  I read somewhere that our babies only need about 14 hours of sleep total, and DD is getting about 12-13 hours at night despite not STTN, so I think that's why.  I wish she'd STTN, sleep a little less at night, and nap more during the day!  Oh well.
  • If it makes you feel better, my LO has only been taking 1 nap these days.  She's perfectly happy the rest of the time, but the one nap (usually an hour or less) is killing me.  She seems to young to go down to 1 nap, but she's perfectly happy the rest of the time.  I guess she feels well rested at night.

I'm sorry, that is frustrating. But I would tolerate that if Addie was happy the rest of the day and slept through the night. But she is miserable and cranky when she's tired.

same here! our daycare lady saved our lives with sleep! she used to only nap on us for about 30 min, now she sleeps 30 min the am, 3 hours from 12-3, and 30 min in the late afternoon...she is the best napper!!

  • does she sleep in her crib at night?  we did nights first.  we moved her at 5 months.  did nights.  she still napped in the packnplay in our room for a week or so, then we did naps in the crib.  good luck!!

  • I feel your pain. Avery never napped anywhere but her swing. I tried to get her in crib for at least one nap a day! NOt saying she napped in there but I attempted it at least once a day! It took a while but I was able to get one nap a day..then 2 and so on. Once she napped in crib fairly well we moved her to the crib at night instead of her pack n play! Its tough and tiring but you'll get it!
