Anyone been on Femara?

Can you tell me more about your experience?  Tomorrow is CD 3 and I need to go to the RE for bloodwork.  I also have to make a decision whether I will do IUI #3 or IVF tomorrow.

If I choose IUI #3, they want me to try Femara since Clomid made my lining too thin for IUI #2.  I am so confused and I don't know what is going to work. I feel like I should just jump to IVF and hopefully that will work but many people, including my RE say that the 3rd IUI is sometimes the charm.

 

AHHHH!! I hate IF!  Any advice is appreciated.

    I took Femara for 3 cycles. The benefits is none of the side effects of Clomid including the negative effect on the lining. But clomid has a long half life so to counteract the clomid I took POM tabs on CD 5 to 14 and Rockstar lining.

    I have taken femera for 3 cycles and had no side effects and had at least one mature follie and a nice lining but BFN all cycles.

    I've had several rounds of Femara & responded well.  Little to no side effects, no lining issues and at least one good follie each cycle.  IUI #4 was on Thursday & my lining, cervix, and follie were my best yet.  GL with your decision!

    I don't have any advice as I've never taken Femara. But I did take Clomid and it SUCKED for me. I've heard Femara is much better in terms of side effects. Good luck making your decision. IF is the worst!

    Our last cycle was femara + follistim and my RE said he really liked the combination for me because I responded very nicely. Unfortunately for me, my left tube was all messed up and I ended up having an ectopic. Like I said, this was just due to my unhealthy left tube but I was successful on femara with follistim and IUI.

    I did 4 femara cycles with my ob/gyn and my current IUI #1 is with femara as well.  I have responded to all the cycles and haven't had any problems with my lining.  The only side effect I've experienced is a few hot flashes maybe one day out of the cycle. 

    And on another positive note, since it's not marketed as a fertility med my insurance covers it!

    TTC since August 2008 4 cycles Femara = BFN Dx PCOS February 2010, 1000 mg Metformin XR IUI #1: Dexamethasone + Femara + Ovidrel + Progesterone = BFN IUI #2: Dexamethasone + Femara + Ovidrel + Progesterone = BFP! Our son arrived January 17, 2011!

    I was on Clomid for 7 cycles and it gave me crazy hot flashes... seriously I thought I was going through menopause!!  I went on Femara for a few months and it was a lot better.  I'm now on a break from everything for a few months but expect to go back on Femara this summer.  My RE has given me an rx for a year of Femara, when I was closely monitored on Clomid.  Good luck!!
