Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Have you kept all of the clothes that LO has outgrown?

Besides giving some to a friend, I've kept most everything that C has outgrown. I would love to use some of the outfits if we have another girl, and others hold sentimental value.  That said, a consignment shop specifically for baby clothes just opened in the area, so I am pondering going through and consigning most of her clothes, only keeping the outfits I absolutely love.

What have you done with your LO's baby clothes?

Re: Have you kept all of the clothes that LO has outgrown?

  • I've kept everything except for a few poop-stained onsies that were too far gone to keep around.

  • so far, we've toted them all up and stacked them in the basement.. sadly she has 5 bins already! I am keeping them until we find out if we're A) going to TTC again and B) if we do and its another DD.. otherwise I might get rid of them..
  • the million dollar question!  I have TUBS of girl clothes. I am still holding onto the hope I may have 1 more child, BUT I am pretty sure DH is going to put the kabash on it. We have some friends PG and having girls so I may give them to them, OR I plan on having a really big garage sale or EBAY event.

  • I kept all of my LO's first time outfits. Her first outfit worn, her take-home outfit, the first dress she wore, etc. And of course the ones I found too adorable to part with!! :) I gave away mostly all that were hand me downs she outgrew, but those my fiancee and me specifically picked out for her I kept. Girls are dominant in my family so I don't wanna get rid of TOO many!

  • Kept every single thing. I'm going to keep all wearable clothes until we're done having more kids, and then will try to consign what I can. We have lots of consignment events in my area.
  • I have kept everything that has not been stained (which is a lot).  We are planning to have another child and if it is a girl then the clothes will come in handy.  If not, I am the 2nd of a group of 7 girlfriends who has had a baby.  Most of Tahlia's outfits have been worn 2-3 times.  I will give her clothes away to a friend if my 2nd child is a boy.

  • I have kept everything except for things that were stained badly (not much luckily) or the odd gifts that were NMS and I regifted.

I wil hang on to it (like 4 totes already!) until we are done havign kids and then either give away stuff to my sisters who are yet to have kids or consign.

  • Yep. We may need them for #2, but if #2 is a boy then we'll be doing a lot of trading and consigning to switch all that pink out for blue!

  • I have donated some of her clothes to a battered woman's organization and some of the toys she didn't play with that I bought at a cosign shop. I bought everything big so that she would grow into them and not have to worry about buying the clothes every few weeks. They started out very neutral and are turning into girly clothes. I know DD is a girl but I'm not too fond of pink and browns but for a long while that is what Carters had for girls. I have a small tuper ware container for 0-3, 3-6 and 6-12 clothes and when she grows out of a size group I put the ones I feel the next one would get more use out of them and donate the rest. This time to a Homeless Shelter (part of Help a Mother Out org) or what ever is greater need for the size.

  •  I kept every single thing that was not stainted too after I had DS1.  Good thing since I was able to use a lot of it for DS2.  I do plan on having more kids but since the amount of baby clothes that I have is obsene, I just gave a lot away to a friend.  I still have about 15 very large totes of baby clothes in my basement.  I can't help it but I am a baby clothes shop a holic.

  • I have kept all of DD's clothes. We are planning on having another baby and if it is a girl then I won't have to buy any clothes for her.

If it is a boy then I am in serious trouble because barely any of her clothes are gender neutral. LOL!

  • I gave a few outfits that DS got as gifts to a friend (he was too big for them when we got them). The rest I'm keeping in case we have another boy.
  • I have kept all of them. If this next baby is a boy, I will go through all of her clothes and donate the ones that I don't want to keep in a keepsake box.

  • Everything is in bins in the basement.  I plan on keeping it until I know if the next one is a boy or girl.

This!  I'm hoping I will have another girl.  If not, then I will get rid of them.

  • I've kept almost everything except for a few preemie items. When we adopt #2 we would like a girl, but if an 'immediate situation' or right situation comes along and it's a boy we wouldn't hesitate - so I hate to get rid of all of G's out-grown clothing.

  • I guess I'm the oddball here.  I have gotten rid of (donated) almost everything.  I have kept the important pieces (maybe 10 or so) and the rest I was happy to get rid of.
  • same as others-  packed away until we are done having kids.  once we are done I will go through and save a few special outfits  (will prob do so before the next kid anyway so they each have their own special outfits) and donate the rest.  I toy with the idea of making a quilt out of some of the different clothes for each kid :)

  • I have kept everything that has sentimental value or is unisex. We are hoping for a DS next time and I will reuse those. Yes I am being irrationally optimistic that we will get what we want next time. lol. But I got a lot of hand me downs and didn't get to shop much so if we have another girl I want an excuse to shop. :) Everything else I am giving to a friend who just had a girl or selling at a consignment shop if it is the wrong season for her DD.

  • We are still keeping all.  I just am not ready to give them away at this time even though we know this is it.

I'm glad we kept them the first time when we had Harm.  Even though Callum is off season slightly we have saved LOADS of cash.

    This exactly.

  • Kept all the girl stuff, boxed up any neutrals and will be sending it my brother's way since he's expecting a little boy in June.
  • I've kept everything up to this point.  I don't want that expense if have another girl eventually. And, I will give it sister/sister in-laws if they have girls to borrow or have depending.  I would much rather they get to use them and save the money than go to the work to sell them already, personally.  Now that dd is eating food and crawling around and getting into things, her cloths aren't holding up as well, so I am sad the think about how many of them won't survive to be used by another kid.

This. I never thought of the quilt thing. Thats a good idea. I have kept almost everything except some things that still have tags on them and I plan to donate them.  I kept her coming home outfit and want to put it in a shadow box or something.

  • I've kept everything in case I have another baby. If we decide not to have one, I'll probably keep a few for sentimental value and give the rest to friends.

  • i kept all of Griffin's clothes- knowing we were going to try for another baby.  Now that we're done having kids when the twins outgrow things I get rid of them (consign, give to friends, sell on ebay and donate)

if you plan to have more kids soon - i don't see any reason why you should sell them unless you have absolutly no room to store them.

  • I have kept them all this time just in case we have another girl. After the next baby, I will probably save everything in case someone in my family gets pregnant soon. After a few years, I'll give them all away so they are still in style.
