Should I be concerned?....

that P is adamant about being a "girdle" = "girl" instead of a boy? He has been talking about this for days. First it was (months ago), telling me that he wanted to be a Mamma just like me and now he wants to be a "girdle" instead of a boy. Oy!

  • Naw, I wouldn't be concerned!

lol. I know. We CANNOT get him to say it the right way no matter how much correcting we do. :-)

  • I'd bet its just a phase.  I don't think I'd worry.  My DS says "grill" instead of girl.  I think its cute!

  • Nah.... I would be flattered if I were you. He probably wants to be a girl/Momma like you because he looks up to you and loves you so much. :)

  • Mitch calls his cousin who is a girl a "him" all the time.  "im gonna teach him how to potty when he is bigger!"

    I don't think its a big deal.

  • not a big deal at all.  if he still wants to be a girl when he is 6 you can infer something from it.  for now it is part of imaginative play.
  • I wouldn't be worried.  A few months ago Emelia was mad because she doesn't have a penis like her brother Jack.  She is over it now and happy about being a girl.  Jack sometimes gets jealous of Emelia wearign dresses.  He doesn't want to be a girl, or wear a dress, but just wants something special liek her.

It is a part of them understanding the difference and realizing who they are.

  • Well, if you should be concerned about that, I should be concerned that my DS wanted (and did) to wear hair bows for three days straight. He still wants to wear them, but a) I can't find them and b) I won't let him wear them outside the house. LOL Smile

Honestly, I don't think it's anything to worry about right now!

  • I knew a boy like that he is a perfectly happy 16/17yr old
  • DS is in the same stage.  I think it is normal at this age!  I stood in Target with him one day for about a half hour talking him out of the sparkly pink shoes! LOL
