I know they say caffeine in moderation and I know some say decaf is ok - but is that really true? The crap you read on the internet says even decaf is bad. So I'm assuming a decaf every once in awhile is ok - or did your Dr say stay away from it all together? Just would like to treat myself every so often.
Thanks
Re: Do you drink decaf?
i drink a coke every single day, and i don't feel bad about it. my mom is an OB, and the max they tell women is 300mg, and one soda has about 35 mg. You're fine with decaf...
My mom also told me that caff. is most dangerous in the first trimester, but once you're in your second trimester, she really just says everything is fine in moderation. women freak out WAY too much about a lot of foods and drinks that they really shouldn't worry about...it's fine in moderation as everyone says. enjoy your coffee!!!
I am on my third pregnancy, and with all of my kiddos I drank caffeine, just in moderation. And so far they have all turned out fine, with no side effects
One cup a morning. My doctor said everything in moderation, 200-300mg a day. Also, the more and more studies that are conducted on whether caffeine has any actual affect on your baby are becoming more and more minimal. So I say, drink up and have your coffee when you would like, just don't go overboard!
Most decaf coffee contains negligible amounts of caffeine--like 5 or 10 mg a cup. Don't worry, it's safe!
But be careful if you order it at a coffee shop. I usually watch the barista to make sure she uses decaf when I order my coffee or espresso. I made the mistake of ordering a decaf iced coffee at the drive through window at Dunkin Donuts yesterday. About half an hour later, I had some serious jitters and my heart was pounding out of my chest. I suspect they accidentally gave me regular coffee...and it was a large!! It took hours for me to fully feel normal again.
But, again, like the previous posters said, caffeine in moderation is fine. My OB says up to 200 mg. per day.
That's why I don't google things.
I drink regular coffee & tea maybe once or twice a day, and have iced tea sometimes if I'm in the mood. And I & my baby are very much alive and well. My mom has had this issue for the last 40 years where she must have something like 900 cups of tea per day or she will keel over, and I'm pretty sure I'm alive and well. Don't stress, just moderate. And don't google things. the internet is not your friend when it comes to things like these.
This.
I'm not a coffee drinker, but I do enjoy a Diet Coke a couple of times a week. A 12oz can of DC only has like, 45mg of caffeine.

I switched to decaf a couple years ago because of HBP & kidney disease under the advice of my Dr (way before TTC). DH & I did it slowly by mixing reg coffee beans & decaf in our home pot over a couple of months.
I still sometimes drink tea with caffeine (but not 2 days in a row because it messes with me now). I used to be a hard core, multiple cups a day woman too.
My OB says decaf coffee and caffeinated beverages in moderation are okay-as long as I still drink enough water.
A cup of decaf doesn't even have 1 mg of caffeine. FAR from the 200 mg recommendation.
And for that matter, a full caffeine cup from time to time isn't that big of a deal either. Try to not worry about it so much.
eh, i find your answer kind of depressing. i think of google like your great aunt edna... if you ask her something, 95% of what she says will be garbage, but 5% is going to be exactly what you were trying to find out. researching is a skill, like anything else, and i hate being dependent.

Are you for real? Or just being condescending?
Um, I believe that's sarcasm
I drink about one cup of caff tea or coffee a day. I didn't drink it much during 1st tri frankly because I went off the taste, but not because I was especially worried. I don't drink decaff (or rarely) because it has more chemicals than caff. Caff in small amounts is fine, so I'd rather have the caff than the chemicals they use to make coffee decaff.
