When did you introduce Pacifier?

Just curious to know when to introduce the paci.... I know people have mixed opinions on using them, but my DS is getting fussy and I think he needs to suck for comfort...

Is it bad to start him on one at 2 1/2 weeks?

And is there a specific time like only after feeding and during sleepy time???

    Once I learned BFing wasn't going to work out...so a little over a week.

    we started at the hospital but he didnt really seem to like it, but once we got home and switched him to the Mam brand he has been using one. But not 24/7 he spits it out during sleep and doesnt wake for it. During the day when hes actually awake he doesnt usually want it. Start him on it whenever you want, honestly I dont think it makes too much of a difference. But when you decide to ween him off of it, thats a different story!

    I had always told myself I would hold out on the paci until at least a month ,but after the second week home breastfeeding was going well so I gave him the paci for comfort sucking. He only will take it when he wants it and definately will not accept it when he is hungry.

    This, Breastfeeding was going horrible for us so I knew that it wasn't going to last but I kept trying to anyway. DD was incredibly fussy at the hospital and following few weeks so the pacifier was a blessing to us. As a previous person mentioned she definitely will not hold on to it if she's hungry...but you can buy yourself a few moments by wetting the pacifier to trick them into sucking on it...

    I EBF (and did with my first) both got pacifiers in the hospital.  we've never had a problem with it.  I say go for it - I let ds2 have it whenever he wants.

    Dr. told us 4 weeks if BF.  SInce I have FF from day one we allowed the hearing screening tech to introduce the paci to her on day 2.  That is the only paci she will take so I have to order more of them online.

    We started the first week, but LO still doesn't use it very often.  Most of the time she spits it out.

    While still in the hospital, for both kids. DD was sorta into it for a couple of months and then discovered her hand. She's 3 and still  occasionally sucks her thumb for comfort, but fortunately not so much that it's a habit I need to break. DS is still liking the paci but is discovering his hands, so we'll see which route he takes.

    DS was less than a week old, he wouldn't sleep, I was exhausted so I sterilized them at 2 am and gave it to him.

    I introduced it at 4 days at the advice of the lactation consultant. She thought it would help his latch, which I think it did. He gets breastfed first 75% if the time, then gets a supplement with a bottle, and gets a paci at night/when he wants it and has not had any issues with confusion.

    We started while we were in the hospital because Sophie wanted to suck nonstop and my nipples couldn't handle it any more.

    I did give at the hospital but only few times but he would get confused on my nipple so I only tried to give it he absolutely needed from gas or whatever. I now use, he's 11 days old and bf is established so he is fine

    Once we decided BF wasn't going to work out for us, which was just a few days after DD was born.

    his first night. I couldn't take him using me as a paci anymore. We are nursing like champs, I bet you would be fine giving one now. It's really helpful for us.

    We tried at one week, but DD2 isn't a huge fan. I've offered them a few times since then, but she apparently isn't a paci baby. My first wasn't, either!
