Any NEFL moms adopt?

DH & I are considering adoption and I was wondering if anyone could recommend an adoption attorney that they have used?

Re: Any NEFL moms adopt?

  • We have considered fostering. Would you want to adopt within Florida/US/Internationally? If you are considering FL, then look into signing up for a MAPS class. If you have any questions, I will try to help.

  • We were actually approach with an opportunity to adopt a baby that will be born at the end of this year so we wouldn't need to go through an agency. I would like to speak with an attorney before setting uo a meeting with the birthmom.

  • Awesome! Sorry, I am no help with private.
  • It is awesome and terrifying at the same time. We have been TTC for 2 years but just started fertiity treatments again this month after a 4 month break.

I have so many emotions over the situation and am completely afraid to make the wrong decision.

  • If you need an ear to vent, I am here. You and DH will be in my thoughts during this time.
  • I don't know much about it, but the guy that installed our floors adopted his son through a private adoption and we talked a good bit about it, he said it was a stressful process but that it was worth it in the end.

Good luck, I hope that you are able to find someone that can help you!

  • I am a social worker.  I frequently work in adoption both private and through the state.  I would highly recommend Jack Gibney.  He is VERY affordable.  If you are willing to pay a lot for the adoption you can go to Shorstein and Kelly.  They will charge at least $20,000.  Jack is much less.

  • I don't have any advice or recs for you, but just wanted to say good luck.  I can only imagine what an emotional roller coaster you and your DH are going through.
  • I know what you are going thru and the emotional toll it takes when TTC with no luck. I dont think you should jump the gun on adoption just yet. (unless you would be ok with getting pg soon after adopting) because you never know.  you CAN get pg with PCOS, just takes more time and money. Keep the faith dear.  But if you do go the adoption route, good luck!
  • I don't have any attorney recs, but I just wanted to say that I think adoption is an amazing wonderful thing.  My brother was adopted and I couldn't imagine our family without him.  I just wanted to wish you guys the best in this situation.
  • Thanks for the support ladies.
