3rd Trimester

35/35! (doc appt update too!)

So, I have an induction crazy doc.  I was induced at 37w, 5 d w/ DD2 due to size and she came out at *only* 8 lbs, 2 oz.  (Though she was face up which makes things harder.)

Thursday I went in and she said I was still measuring 5 weeks ahead, so I am officially measuring 40 weeks.  However, I told her I would prefer to try to go into labor myself - or see if I will.  She said it is possible (even after 2 inductions).  She however, set the eviction date of 5/22 if baby does not vacate before then (41 weeks).  So... I have an ultrasound 4/22 and my first internal and we will go from there.  I am anxious to see if baby measures 9 lbs on u/s if she changes her tune.....

  • Good for you for going with what you think is best.  Remember that late thrid trimester U/S's are TERRIBLE at estimating weight.  I had U/S's at 38 weeks with both previous PG's and they told me my son would be huge and already was close to 9lbs...he was born 2 weeks later weighing 7lbs 6oz.  With my daughter they said she was only measuring at about 4lbs and would be about a 5lb baby...I went out and bought a ton of newborn items and she was born 2 weeks later weighing exactly 7lbs 6oz as well.  And these measurements were done at an Ivy League teaching hospital...the best in the area...they were just totally off.

Good luck!!! Very exciting how close it is getting!

I actually brought this up to the doc.  The u/s's on my girls were off by at least 1/2 a pound (I think a pound or more w/ DD2).  But, she says it will give me a guide as to decide what to do next...  induce at 39 weeks or wait it out.

  • Congrats on 35/35!  :)

I think most doc's are induction crazy these days.  Good for you for doing what you think is best for you and baby.  Those size estimates aways seem to be so off!  They told me 4 days before I had DD that she was around 7 lbs and she was 9lbs 1oz on her Birthday.

Taylor had horrible reflux and Alex never had any (born at 40 w), so this is part of the consideration....
