Re: did your twins go to the NICU?

  • Mine had no NICU time. Born at 37w6d. One needed oxygen just briefly after he was born (he was blue) but other than that, no special care.

  • No NICU.  Born 36w2d.  Decided to take them on the earlier side due to my uterine septum surgery (my Peri wasn't sure how it healed) and the fact that they were identical twins who shared a placenta.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • yep. 63 days. they were born at 29 weeks. my advice to all twin mom's is to read up on the NICU and premature babies so that you are mentally prepared, but don't dwell on it. chances are if they need any time, it will be a short stint.
  • no- i made it to 38w1d and my boys were able to come right home with me. very fortunate.
  • Mine were born at 35w2d and DD came home with me while DS stayed 26 days in NICU for RDS

  • Yes. They were born at 36w3d.

L only went for a couple of hours for observation and was in the room with me by the time I was out of recovery. A was in there for 4 days for respiratory distress and jaundice but was released the day me and L were set to go home, so we all came home together. We were very fortunate.

  • mine did not.  They were born at 38 weeks and 3 days.
  • Jake did for 24 days because he developed blood sugar issues and then NEC shortly after birth. Sam had no NICU time.

  • Kaden was required to go to the NICU for 24 hours because of his weight (he was 4lbs 6oz).  He was just there for observation.  Nolan had no NICU time.

  • Ours were born at 34w1d and spent 3 weeks in the NICU. I agree that it's a good idea to read up on babies being in a NICU just in case.

  • we made it to 38w2d and no nicu time.
  • No NICU time. Born at 36w4d. They roomed with me and came home with me.

They did run some extra tests, just in case--like blood sugar the first 24 hours and then the car seat tolerance test before they could go home.

  • yes, 13 & 15 days.  breathing help, jaundice, apneas, but then just feeder/growers.

  • Mine were born at 38w.  They didin't need NICU time or even nursery time.
  • My girls were born at 33w 4d and spent two weeks in the NICU.  Lauryn was on cpap for a couple hours after birth but was done bythe time I saw them in there.  They were there as feeders/growers and also both had jaundice and were under the lights for a couple of days.  Definitely prepare for it and hope you dont need it.

  • Gracie went to the NICU because of her weight.  She was born at 4lbs 3 oz. and the hospital where I delivered had a rule that any baby under 4 1/2 lbs has to go to the NICU.  She stayed in the NICU the whole time we were there (a week) just for observation and jaundice.  She had no trouble breathing or eating and had no tubes.  They were born on a Monday and we left the hospital on Friday afternoon with Ava.  They gave us the choice to take Gracie with us or let us have one night with Ava and then pick up Gracie the next morning.  We did that and while it was hard to leave her, it worked for us.  We had our first night home with one baby and picked up Gracie in the morning.  Oh, and they were born at 36 weeks exactly via scheduled c-section.
  • Yup.  Born 32w3d and spent 24 & 25 days in NICU as feeders and growers & jaundice.
    Lilypie Second Birthday tickers Notes:
  • yes, they were born at 31 weeks 5 days

Taylor- 24 days in the NICU. She was just a feeder/grower and had no major problems

Ellie- 39 days in the NICU. She had PDA surgery when she was 2 weeks old and after that was a feeder/grower

  • My babies were born at 32 w 6d and Matthew and Brady spent 23 days in the NICU, Aubrey 26 and Cameron 35 because he had hernia surgery on the 23 day and had a rough time coming out of the anesthesia.

  • Mine were born at 37 weeks exactly and went straight with me back to my room.  No nursery/nicu time.
  • Mine were born at 35 weeks and were in the NICU for a week.  Their CBC counts were on the "low side of normal" so they had them on a course of antibiotics, mostly as a precaution.  And they spent one day under phototherapy for jaundice. Otherwise, they were totally fine.
