Flint area?

DH and I are considering moving from AZ to the Flint area (staying with family temporarily) until we find a place we like. Either in Michigan or Ohio, possibly Indiana. I was just wondering if anyone has lived in the Flint area and whether you liked it or not. We've never been to Michigan so if someone could tell me about winter weather (how snowy?) and what the summers are like I'd be very thankful.

Also, if there is a city you like (or have liked) living in, please tell me about it!

    I lived in Flint area for about a year.  I was working on a state wide campaign and Genesee County was part of the territory I had.  It really depends on what city you are living in.  I would not recommend living in The City of Flint proper.  I felt more unsafe there, that I do in Detroit.  There are nice communities surround it that I would consider living in: Grand Blanc, Fenton, Flushing, and Clio(this where I lived) I am sure there are more, these are just the ones come to mind right now.

    Winters aren't that bad there, they don't get loads of snow like the areas near the Great Lakes.  Don't get me wrong it does get really cold.  Summer temperatures really depend on the year, some are really hot and some are really mild.

    I live in the flint area (fenton).  I live fenton.  I would not live in flint.  I know a lot of people who live around flint.  I do the crim which is a 10 mile run in flint.  I am a trainer for it so I have met people all over the flint area.  The area which are nice are flushing, grand blanc, davison, fenton, linden.  I run in the city of flint.  There are really nice areas and really bad areas.  The city is in big financial trouble and had to lay off firefighters and cops.  There has been a lot of fires since which is for the last 2 weeks.  they are getting help for funding to beable to hire some back.  there is a lot of medical professionals that live around the area.  flint has several hospitals.  one of them has a good childrens hospital. 

    fenton is a small town.  has some good resturants.  i run alone and feel safe.  it has a small town feel.  the other cities linden, grand blanc and flushing are the same.  fenton and linden schools are not the best.  grand blanc schools are not too bad.

    the weather is like pp.

    I currently live in Grand Blanc, but have lived in the "Flint Area" my entire life.  The city of Flint is not necessarily recommended, high crime rate, not many jobs, etc.  Alot of the cities around Flint are really nice though.  We do tend to get a lot of snow in the winter but not much more than you would get in Ohio or Indiana.  Resonably warm in the summers :)  My personal favorite cities are Flushing and Grand Blanc.  Both are smaller cities that you can walk in with nice parks to take the kids to play in.  HTH.
